Volcano under the Antarctic (Yes I am a GENIUS)
Mirror.co.uk ^ | January 21 2008 | Mirror.co.uk

Scientists have discovered a huge active volcano under Antarctica.

- The BAS team says data from the volcano will help it predict future rises in sea-levels caused by melting ice.

I was just having dinner with the wife when she told me they found a volcano under Antarctica and I said: AHA I KNEW IT!! And came running here to prove it.

I posted this months ago: And how do they know there is no volcanic activity under the polar caps? They should go look before they chase after me and my lights.

There is a time to be modest, this is not one of them. :)

I'm still sticking with the Sun causing global warming idea.

Antarctic volcano melting stuff is another application of this whole source of heat being the cause theory.

Congratulations Berlin. What I am curious about is this: They uncovered the volcano. What were they covering it with, and who put it there, eh?

That's easy. Halliburton put it out there in what was till now a secret project, in the hopes that one day it would get discovered and all the ice melting could be blamed on the volcano.

on cbs yesterday, they had a gw special. They showed two guys walkin’ on a melting glacier. The snow and ice were completely grey (gray? I never know which one!). It was ash from a volcano. But that couldn’t be causing the melting, could it? They said “NO!”

“You see Global Warming caused the Volcano.”

You joke, but that is what some screwball enviro-whackos are saying. That we are causing the planet to warm which sets off dormant volcanos. Idiots.

Yep! The now “gray” snow and ice just does not have the reflective properties of pure “white” snow and ice. It absorbs more heat from the sun causing melting.

Robert Felix, author of "Not by Fire, but by Ice" recently mentioned that scientists have identified 3 million undersea volcanoes. At some points in the history of the planet, the seas were literally a boiling "fish stew". The extra water evaporated increased the accumulation of ice and snow on the land while lowering the sea levels almost 400 feet lower than they are today.

One of the things I learned in college was my own level of ignorance. The more I studied, the more aware I became of my own ignorance. In the end, what I did learn was how to find the information I need when I need it.

What you discovered in this article about volcanoes under polar ice caps is that you had not sufficiently researched the available body of knowledge on the topic. Others have already traveled that road. If the topic really lights your fire, get up to speed on what others have learned, then apply your skills to refine or expand that body of knowledge.

Volcanos are the cause of global warming (or the sun), elves are cutting down the forests, aliens are extinguishing habitat and decimating animal and plant species.

What a world! The only thing which is certain is that humans are entirely innocent.

If only he had signed the Kyoto Accord we could have avoided this volcano as we should have avoided hurricane Katrina. Just the mere fact of putting pen to paper would have signaled the world and the spirits that we are serious about this bull sh*t. (sarcasm off-return to normal discussion)

Volcanos are the cause of global warming (or the sun), elves are cutting down the forests, aliens are extinguishing habitat and decimating animal and plant species.

The earth's internal heat and the Sun do indeed drive our planet's energy budget, depending on how far above or below ground you are.

As for the rest: the forests, the animals, insects and plants - and the ground beneath them - and the fish of the oceans - are ours to do what we want with. We've done nothing wrong in obeying the commands of our Creator.

If wiping out a few hundred species is somehow immoral, then go and ask God some searching questions: e.g. why all the mass-extinction events?

And if there is no God, then how can anything - anything at all - be immoral?

I watched it as well.

I found it particularly interesting when they were explaining that people would end up dying of thirst, due to all the icecaps melting.

Where, specifically, is the volcano? Is it out on the peninsula, where the melting has been happening? Or is it on the central ice shelf, where the ice has been thickening?

Global Warming
Volcanoes
weather
The Sun
The tilt of the Earth
Tsunamis
Hurricanes
Tornadoes
The Rise and Fall of Magma
The Wind
The Rain

The above are things the alarmists want to change.

Things not humanly possible to change.

And if there is no God, then how can anything - anything at all - be immoral?

Athiests have no more problems with immorality than believers; people of all persuasions are quite willing and able to justify selfishness, greed, cruelty, etc., when it suits them, when it profits them.

As for the rest: the forests, the animals, insects and plants - and the ground beneath them - and the fish of the oceans - are ours to do what we want with.

What a short-sighted justification of truly terrible behavior.

The earth's internal heat and the Sun do indeed drive our planet's energy budget, depending on how far above or below ground you are

Yes, but the evidence is very strong that recent human activity is a non-negligible contributor to that budget.

I give you credit. Someone had to be first.

It should have been obvious.

There’s a whole continent under the ice, complete with underground lakes and tropical temperatures. One of the largest lakes in the world.

And likely more than just one volcano.

Wait! I thought the only thing certain was humans were entirely guilty.

Try reading the descriptions of the Americas left by early European explorers, of the natural world of the time. They thought it was a paradise of beauty and plenty, immeasurable and inexhaustible.

Of course it wasn't, as we've proved. Nor did native Americans behave like denizens of Paradise.

But the changes, their causes, their likely consequences, are well-worth noting.

What part of that .5 F contribution over 100 years time can be directly traced to anthropogenic causation? Given the earths climatological history and the fact that there were times of greater warming and cooling well before an anthropogenic factor existed; Is the evidence really that strong or does the evidence rather suggest that AGW is a scam for the ages?

Even if the direct heat from the volcano wasn’t causing the melting, grey absorbs more heat and light than white, so THAT ALONE would cause melting!
