Jerimiah A. White may be a lot of things, but he’s no priest.

Just a point of correction. The Rev. Wright may be a minister, but he's not a priest.

That being said, You GO, Rev!

Yes I agree. I became curious why many black men suddenly started calling themselves Reverend and did a little cursory research on the the subject.

My finding were that the term Reverend (obviously and I will not insult anyone by pointing out that it derives from Revere {Etymology: Latin revereri, from re- + vereri to fear, respect - synonyms revere reverence venerate worship adore mean to honor and admire profoundly and respectfully)

The obvious term for Reverend is ‘respect me’ or ‘I am an important person’. The religious aspects of reverend seem to come from around the time of the Hapsburg dynasty when ‘importance’ was necessarily intertwined with religion. In summary, Reverend was a term used to describe an important person to the Church whom had obtained secular affluence. This was a term for a rich person and supporter of the Church, which at that time would have been the Catholic church.

In summary, it meant a person, either Lord or layman, who supported the Church and was involved in the dispensation of the Church. However, ‘reverend’ could be equally apply to any revered person. (I think.) The exact precise definition of ‘reverend’ is elusive.

In our PC media, you could introduce yourself as 'Reverend Sheik Bishop of the world' and especially if you are what the whites erroneously call a 'minority' the media will never check anything. In this case, checking up on the 'truth' or reality could be considered 'racist'.

Bear in mind, the “Priest” is part of the title from blackvoices.com.

Yep, he ain’t a priest, and certainly ain’t reverent!

Americans won’t swallow these lies anymore. This time, they bit off more than they can chew! No more paying lip service to civility now.

Quit blowing this Presidential issue out of proportion. You could sink their campaign with words like that. Oral testimony like that can fell a truth or two. What a shame.

LBJ was a Democrat, not a Republican which you said helped the blacks with that amendment.

But he is educated.

He graduated from Howard University and earned bachelor's and master's degrees in English with a focus on African spirituals. At the University of Chicago Divinity School, he earned another masters degree in the history of religions with a focus on Islam.

This thread is about Rev. Jerimiah A. White, not Obama.
