He’s doing exactly what he should do. He’s campaiging to his base. How can anyone fault him for that?

Please tell me you are not being serious...

I've been a proud freeper for years, and I've been as critical of Huckabee as anyone else... but I'm becoming sympathic to the guy in reaction to the constant attacks upon his faith.

Look, if you don't like Huck because he's been weak fiscally or doesn't have foreign policy experience, that's absolutely fair. Attacking the guy because he wears his faith up front, and solely because of his faith...if theophobes within the conservative party succeed at wounding Huck just in order to 'get' Mr. Christian social conservative, I suspect evangelicals who helped pushed Bush over the top in 2004 will walk in 2008.

Pic of the fracturing of the Republican party.

Why did he give up being a Pastor ? Think about that.

Give me an "m"

Give me an "O"

Give me an "n"

Hmmm... a while back the rats promised to coopt the republican advantage among Christians, especially evangelicals. Then we saw the emergence of the “emerging church”, the dilution of the definition of “evangelical” by left wing, social gospel types. I wonder if Hucklebee isn’t part of the scheme.

This is the worst Elmer Gantry-ism, Marjoe, Bennie Hinn I have seen in American Politics in a LONG TIME.

Probably is, there will be just enough uneducated, undiscerning saps, (with hearts of gold and brains of putty) who can put this slick shill closer to the nomination.

There are times when you have to “immanentize the eschaton”, i.e. let the other side make such a botch of things that they have to turn to the adults to sort them out. That’s how Reagan got his chance.

I don’t like him because he’s a jerk.

You said it!
Huckabee is doing everything he can to get the evangelical vote...but the MSM will use this against him in the general were he to win the nomination.

I don’t understand how Huckabee supporters don’t see through this flim-flam artist...he goes to church and preaches a political message (just like the Dems). I agree with an earlier post that shows that Huckabee is suggesting that as “one of us,” he is preferable to those like George W. and Reagan because they weren’t/aren’t pastors.

If he wins....we’ll have Hillary for president

I am so sick of Huckabee’s holier than thou act. This slimeball who believes in releasing violent criminals from prison always brags about how religious he is. He is so phony he makes me sick.

My sentiments exactly.

I see someone annointed themselves God and has now condemned a man of the cloth to hell. I remember one part of the Bible says, "Touch not my annointed". (Psalm 105:15)

A real man of the cloth, does not walk away from a calling of God to be a politician.

I have deep reservations about Huckabee NOT because he wears his faith on his sleeve, but because he’s acting like the Democrats where faith is concerned. Bill Clinton prominently carried around his Bible; Hillary and John Edwards have stood at pulpits and uttered their political messages for congregations. Huckabee is doing the same thing; it bothers me when Dems do it and when Huckabee does it.

G.W.Bush is attacked on the basis of his faith simply because he has discussed its importance to him. To me, he has shown how Christians in office should act. His message after 9/11 at the National Cathedral was heartfelt yet Christian to the core without excluding non-believers. Huckabee is using his message in church to be about this election...crass and demeaning to the Lord.

Yes, I meant without the brains, of course. Gomer Pyle would have no idea what to do if he ended up in the White House. Long would’ve turned us into a Nazi-like fascist state, intentionally, for his own profit.

You all know the old gospel hymn, ‘Michael Row the Boat Ashore’, which was sung by freed slaves who rowed long boats from Saint Helena Island to the mainland during the American Civil War. Here is my version, as applied to Mike Huckabee...

MICHAEL SOLD HIS SOUL FOR SURE, PAL HE’S FOOLED YA,
MICHAEL KNOWS YOU’RE INSECURE... YOU’RE A LOO-OO-SER.
GETS’ YOUR HELP TO SPIN HIS TALE, HE’S A USER,
LETS MAD FELONS OUT OF JAIL, PARDONS TO-OO-YA.

MICHAEL SOLD HIS SOUL FOR SURE, PAL HE’S FOOLED YA,
MICHAEL KNOWS YOU’RE INSECURE... YOU’RE A LOO-OO-SER.
HIS STARE IS DEEP AND STARRY EYED, PAL HE’S COOL, YEAH,
MILKIN’ DUMMIES FULL OF PRIDE... GLAD HE KNEW-EW-YA.

MICHAEL SOLD HIS SOUL FOR SURE, PAL HE’S FOOLED YA,
MICHAEL KNOWS YOU’RE INSECURE... YOU’RE A LOO-OO-SER.
M-S-M IS ALL ABOARD... PAL THEY RULE YA,
M-S-M WILL WIELD THE SWORD WHEN THEY CHOO-OOSE, YEAH.

MICHAEL SOLD HIS SOUL FOR SURE, PAL HE’S FOOLED YA,
MICHAEL KNOWS YOU’RE INSECURE... YOU’RE A LOO-OO-SER.
WHEN HE’S CHOSEN THEY’LL RING ‘M OUT... IN THE NEWS, YEAH,
HIS MEDIA BUDDIES ALL GONNA SHOUT: HE’S A LOO-OO-SER!

MICHAEL SOLD HIS SOUL FOR SURE, PAL HE’S FOOLED YA,
MICHAEL KNOWS YOU’RE INSECURE... YOU’RE A LOO-OO-SER.
LIBS WILL JUMP WITH JUBILEE... HOW THEY FOOLED YA,
THEN WE’LL GET OL’ HILLARY, AND SHE’LL RU-ULE YA.

MICHAEL SOLD HIS SOUL FOR SURE, PAL HE’S FOOLED YA,
MICHAEL KNOWS YOU’RE INSECURE... YOU’RE A LOO-OO-SER.

So...if Huckabee wins and the evangelicals do run the party...is it safe to say they are the establishment?

It seems that terms like establishment and elites only apply to people who are against Huckabee.

Just like the Clintoons Huckabee uses Saul Alinsky tactics and class warfare to get votes. A sad man that I will never vote for and will encourage every Republican I know to sit it out if he wins.
