Man the last thing we need are a bunch of young know it alls rallying support and money for Republican candidates. We need more older wiser people like McCain and Thompson. We need a Robert Dole to go up against Barrack Obama! Somebody who knows what it was like to watch Howdy Doody Time and get excited about Cracker Jack prizes. Thems was de days when you could get a coke for a nickel! Go Fred! Go John!
Didn’t know the NYT even knew what a Christian was. Wow, I’m impressed that they have learned how to write the word “evangelical” now that they have a candidate to back.
It’s amazing to me how the Baptist/evangelical community is allowing themselves to be taken in by this charlatan Huckabee.
Duncan Hunter has gotten the best ratings from some Christian groups, as well. He lives his faith instead of using it to pander.

Duncan Hunter answer the “BIBLE” Question - RE: CNN/YouTube debate
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: December 5, 2007
San Diego, CA – Presidential candidate and U.S. Congressman Duncan Hunter (R-CA) took the opportunity today to respond to a question posed to candidates at the CNN-YouTube Republican Presidential debate that occurred last week that he did not have an opportunity to answer. Holding a Bible, Joseph Dearing from Dallas, Texas, asked the candidates, “Do you believe every word of this book? Specifically, this book that I am holding in my hand, do you believe this book?” Congressman Hunter has sent Mr. Dearing the following letter in answer to his question:

Dear Mr. Dearing:
At last week’s CNN-You Tube debate, you asked the question of all of us “Do you believe in every word of this book?” meaning the Bible. As you know, the moderator called on my fellow candidates Governor Romney, Mayor Giuliani and Governor Huckabee to answer, but I myself was not given an opportunity. Allow me to respond directly to your question now. Do I believe every word of the Bible? Yes, by faith.
I find the center of the Bible to be these words: “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life,” John 3:16. If you believe in this promise, which so obviously is not scientifically provable, then is there any other event in the Bible that God’s hand cannot accomplish?
On June 28, 1787, at the Constitution Convention when the delegates appeared to be hopelessly deadlocked, old Ben Franklin made a speech, the central sentence being the following: “The longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this truth: that God governs in the affairs of men. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without His notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without His aid?”
Following this statement, Franklin made a request resulting in the delegates approving a motion by James Madison to open every session with a prayer. The U.S. Constitution was thus born and this document, which delivers to every American the freedoms we enjoy, was produced by men of great faith and who very strongly believed in the Bible. Our further freedoms have been defended by American soldiers, 619,000 of whom were killed in battle during the last century, and a vast majority I feel believed the Bible.
I am sending you a book which I hope you will find instructive and persuasive, “A Third Testament” by Malcolm Muggeridge, chronicling the lives of great intellectuals in history who became followers of Christ and who believed in the Bible.
When I am asked by those who pride themselves on the reliance on provable scientific facts regarding the validity of the scriptures, I answer with one such set of facts. There are an infinite number of atoms on the head of a pin, each of which are circled by electrons. Who placed those electrons there? I hope their attempt to answer this question helps them to understand my three-word answer to your original question. Do I believe every word of the Bible? Yes, by faith.

JMO, with the replies that are before me, maybe listen to them, instead of knee jerkingly condemning them.
A question, why are people(Rollins, Pinkerton. etc) who served a Predisent who projected strength, poise and confidence,(Reagan) joining Huckabee's campaign?
Good. You can join the other 17-18% of the American population that feels the same way you do & form your own new freaky party--(80% or more of these BTW of these are Democrats & Independents).

Whether you want to accept it, or not, there is a struggle for the Republican party between the religious right, and the religious left.
Fred’s supporters didn’t start that.
Huck is a card carrying member of the religious left.
Please, do some research into the Christian Democrats in Europe.
That line of thinking is what Huck brings to the table.

There is a growing number of 30 somethings and younger who are gravitating to the left side of Christianity. Pro environment, pro life, anti-war, etc. Scares me to death to know a preacher is in church lecturing on global warming.
Oh, I'm sure Thompson will get his fair share of votes. Then they'll compare Huckabee & Romney twice getting endorsed by the Log Cabin Club of MA...and realize that Hunter, Thompson & Huckabee are better alternatives.
At 19, you don't know enough to be a worthwhile author or speaker - you haven't lived enough to find your butthole with two hands and a map, let alone give lessons to your elders.
I should know - at 19, I was a Democrat. It took Reagan to teach me how the world works.

I'm sure there are a number of Christians who only go to church a few times (hey, the thief on the cross' church attendance was zero). But beyond that caveat, what's a solo Christian? (It's called the body of Christ for a reason...and a body has many members...)
Thompson started it all by stopping his attendance of church...He's already on the record in mid-'07 for saying he only attends church worship when he visits his mom. (IOW, he has no church home.)
Thompson is a better vote than Romney, McCain, & Giuliani...his stances on key issues are better than Huckabee's in some & the reverse is also true on other issues...Hunter is better than both of them, stance-wise...Huck just outshines Thompson as a communicator & campaigner & at least he regular worships the God of the Bible, unlike Fred.
