Such incidents serve to show us at least some of the reasons for the deterioration and decline of what used to be our most trustworthy guardian agencies. I no longer have much faith in either the FBI or CIA; both need a thorough housecleaning from top to bottom. In this respect, I note what happened to the one recent attempt to clean out the CIA -- Porter Goss couldn't get it done, probably due to all of the whining and backstabbing by the bureaucracy as well as a lack of White House support when he needed it.
About all we have left now is our courageous and dedicated military, and Congress continues to show them very little support. Our troops deserve a very substantial increase in pay which can easily be funded by taking it right out of the hides of our incompetent and largely corrupt Washington political class.
I can’t argue with that. In part it’s another symptom of overinflated government. How do we reduce these agencies and maintain the security they are supposed to provide? I’m not a technocrat so I don’t know. I think that’s the right term for someone who would know.
Pinging joanie-f was a wise thing to do. She has more intelligence and clarity than most anyone I can think of.
It seems that you think the old “I vas just following ordehs” is a legitimate defense.
Sad. I expect better.
The county sheriff is an elected official. In reality, the nature of law enforcement as vested in the county sheriff is of the most constitutional nature, and they need to be reminded of their role.
All county sheriffs need to take some courses from Sheriff Mack in Arizona and others like him.
