McGovern: Time to impeach Bush
CNN ^ | Jan. 06, 2008 | Alexander Mooney

Posted on 01/06/2008 4:41:06 PM PST by jdm

WASHINGTON (CNN) – George McGovern, the Democratic Party's 1972 nominee for president, is calling on Congress to impeach President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney.

And in an editorial in Sunday's Washington Post, McGovern writes the case for impeaching the current president is "far stronger" than the case made against former President Richard Nixon — the man who soundly defeated McGovern in the general election match up.

"Bush and Cheney are clearly guilty of numerous impeachable offenses," McGovern writes. "They have repeatedly violated the Constitution. They have transgressed national and international law. They have lied to the American people time after time.

"Their conduct and their barbaric policies have reduced our beloved country to a historic low in the eyes of people around the world," he continued.

McGovern, a former three-term senator who ran for president on a fiercely anti-war platform, also called the administration's policy in Iraq a "a murderous, illegal, nonsensical war" in violation of international law.

"This reckless disregard for life and property, as well as constitutional law, has been accompanied by the abuse of prisoners, including systematic torture, in direct violation of the Geneva Conventions of 1949," he added.

I’ll never forget the night of the election when George McG was running.

I was a sweet, pretty liberal gal at the time. I was sooooo convinced that McGovern was going to win, that the country would rise as one loving liberal group and elect this man who would unite the planet as one.

I’m perfectly serious.

I got so depressed that he only won one state. I could not believe my lying eyes. I was so convinced....

True story. I’m not proud of it, but true.

Heh.

Just think,,,,,Rudy VOTED FOR MCGOVERN!!!

But,,,but,,,but,,,, that was a long time ago,,,,when he was really young, innocent and naive (almost 30),,,,

after he worked on Bobby Kennedy's campaign,,,,,

and way, way before he supported the far-left, socialist, big government Marxist, Mario Cuomo over the Republican candidate Pataki (largely because the Republican wanted to cut taxes too much).

This is from a red SOB who abandoned the peoples of SE Asia to a Communist genocide and slavery. He got his start in admiring communism when he landed his bomber on a Tito-Partisan controlled island in the Adriatic during WW2.

He also wrote a thesis in college after the war which praised Stalin. If anyone has a copy, print it here at FR.

McGovern supported several communist united fronts on Vietnam from the various Mobes to PCPJ and NPAC.

He also sponsored amendments to the Walter-McCarren Act which made it easier for communists and terrorists supporters to get into the US by eliminating key sections of this act which prevented this.

The man is and was and always will be a perfect red dupe and stooge.

He should have been tried for treason a long time ago, and hung for his role in promoting communist genocide in Cambodia. Remember, it was the McGovern-Hatfield Amendment that helped stop the US from giving aid to our allies in Indochina during the war.

May he rot in hell, even when he is still alive!

Don’t know what Rudy said about McGovern, and if he said something polite or nice, that’s politics. I was in Saigon when McGovern loss a key vote and all the Americans with me cheered. The So. Vietnamese asked what we were cheering about and I said, “You top enemy just lost”.

They got the point.

McGovern has always been anti-American. Just check his record, but as a reporter who covered the Hill and internal security/national defense issues for decades, I found McGovern to be one of the “reddest” of the Democrat-Left.

Besides that, he is stupid as a cow turd. I have more respect for Gene McCarthy than McGovern. At least McCarthy was an airhead but not anti-American, pro-Communist airhead.

McGovern ranks with the worst of the Democrats on national defense/internal security, and I’ve seen or met most of these bastards while I was on the Hill.

The only credit I will give McGovern, without any hesitation, is that he was very brave during his WW2 service as a B-24 pilot/bombardier. However, his contact with Tito’s Partisans and the glowing reviews he give about them in his debriefing showed that he bought the Tito communist line, hook, line and sinker. And he never left that leftist mindset.

I agree with absolutely EVERYTHING you said. My point was that Rudy voted for McGovern,,,and I, too, am old enough to remember exactly 'what McGovern was all about'!!!

McGovern made today's leftists, pacifists, and capitulators look like amateurs compared to the 'aid and comfort' and encouragement that he gave our enemies.

And yet Rudy voted for him. Amazing.

"Bush and Cheney are clearly guilty of numerous impeachable offenses,"

What offenses? Please, someone calling for the impeachment please demonstrate where the POTUS or VP have committed impeachable offenses.

Now, Mr. McGovern and your fellow demonrats, if you would like to discuss the clearly treasonous offenses you have committed...

Deportation is for persons who are not U.S. citizens.

In McGovern's case, it would be a forced exile.
