A new immigrant legal or illegal is expected to enter the United States every 30 seconds by January, the U.S. Census Bureau says.
The agency estimates this foreign influx will increase the total U.S. population by one person every 13 seconds.
The U.S. also is expected to register one birth every eight seconds and one death every 11 seconds by next month.
The Census Bureau is projecting the nation's Jan. 1 total population will be 303,146,284 a 0.9 percent increase from New Year"s Day 2007.
The estimate is similar to recent annual population increases of about 1 percent.
"It's about what we expected," said Census Bureau demographer Greg Harper, referring to the Jan. 1, 2008, estimate. "Growth [for 2007] will be a little bit less than in the past, but it's right in line with what we've seen in growth in the past."
Immigrants were responsible for more than one-third of an estimated nationwide population growth of almost 2.87 million between July 1, 2006, and July 1, 2007, according to a census report released this week.

housing ponzi scheme collapse fixed!!!
Quantity not quality. Most of today’s immigrants are poorly educated laborers—mandatory education ends at sixth grade in Mexico, but in many poor rural areas, kids do not even get that. There is sometimes no school within walking distance and no, their parents do not have cars, and the government does not have school buses. Educational opportunities in other Latin American countries are even worse. Hard working folks, yes. But unlikely to make a substantive contribution to our civic life or our post-industrial economy. Their grandchildren may be OK. But their kids will be handicapped by their parents’ lack of education.

Lots of the kids become gang-bangers.
How many are "anchor babies"?
..." and one death every 11 seconds by next month..."
So we lose the generation that went to war, e.g., "The Greatest Generation".
Some deaths are attributable to Illegals.
I suspect this number should be taken with a grain of salt. I would multiply any number released by the U.S. Census Bureau by three or four when applying a number per year to legal and illegal immigration. The U.S. Census Bureau says legal and illegal immigration only comes in the number of one million, fifty one thousand (plus) people per year. Low ball estimate, would be my best guess, of the numbers per the U.S. Census Bureau. More thought and a paper trail toward continuing a Safety Valve Policy, is my best thought of this numbers game, by the U.S. Census Bureau.
