NEW ORLEANS The National Rifle Association has hired private investigators to find hundreds of people whose firearms were seized by city police in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, according to court papers filed this week.
The NRA is trying to locate gun owners for a federal lawsuit that the lobbying group filed against Mayor Ray Nagin and Police Superintendent Warren Riley over the city's seizure of firearms after the Aug. 29, 2005, hurricane.
In the lawsuit, the NRA and the Second Amendment Foundation claim the city violated gun owners' constitutional right to bear arms and left them "at the mercy of roving gangs, home invaders, and other criminals" after Katrina. --snip--

Those people need their guns, new orleans is becoming a real dirt bag of a city.
Gun control is like trying to reduce drunk driving by making it tougher for sober people to own cars.
It only makes sense that gov’t would resort to kneejerk confiscation tactics at times they feel most vulnerable.
New Orleans became a "real dirt bag of a city" quite a number of years ago.
Guy on Guntalk was interviewed by Tom Gresham that wrote a book about the ‘Gun Grab’ in NO.
He said some imported cops from New York were itching to start killing to grab guns.
He also said the cops would just throw away the ‘junkers’ in the river and keep the ‘good’ ones for themselves. Doubt the people will ever get them back.
