NH Newspaper Calls Romney "A Phony"

NH Newspaper Calls Romney "A Phony" Dec 23 12:47 PM US/Eastern By GLEN JOHNSON Associated Press Writer MILFORD, N.H. (AP) - The Concord Monitor broke with political tradition Sunday, telling readers in the state with the first presidential primary why they should not vote for Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney instead of whom they should support.

In a scathing anti-endorsement that called Romney a "disquieting figure," the New Hampshire newspaper's editorial board said he looks and acts like a presidential contender but "surely must be stopped" because he lacks the core philosophical beliefs to be a trustworthy president.

In particular, the newspaper noted the former Massachusetts governor's change of heart on such issues as abortion rights, stem-cell research and access to emergency contraception, as well as on signing an anti- tax pledge.

"When New Hampshire partisans are asked to defend the state's first- in-the-nation primary, we talk about our ability to see the candidates up close, ask tough questions and see through the baloney. If a candidate is a phony, we assure ourselves and the rest of the world, we'll know it," the newspaper said. "Mitt Romney is such a candidate. New Hampshire Republicans and independents must vote no."

Romney's campaign sloughed off the criticism and instead pointed to his endorsement Sunday by the Sioux City Journal in Iowa, the state whose Jan. 3 caucuses kick off the presidential nominating process. Romney also has been stumping hard in New Hampshire ahead of its Jan. 8 primary, including stops here and in two other communities on Sunday.

DNC has attacked Mitt the most. They know Mitt is the hardest to defeat so MSM is now working overtime and trying to derail Romney before it is too late. There is a reason MSM does not attack Ron Paul, Fred Thompson or Duncan Hunter.

Wall Street Journal:WSJ "Democrats know it. Here's an interesting statistic: Since the beginning of 2007, the Democratic National Committee has released 102 direct attacks on Mitt Romney. Rudy Giuliani has warranted 78; John McCain 68; Fred Thompson 21. Mike Huckabee? Four. "

This is a positive sign. MSM knows Mitt Romney and they are terrified about him. Now is the last possibility to stop him, otherwise they must face him in the general election.

Well, I’m no Romney supporter, but if I lived in NH, and it is a liberal rag, and I knew it, I’d probably vote for the person they told me not to vote for. I’m going to have trouble voting for most of the lot, not just Romney, so why did they single out Romney...why not Huckabee?

I’d be pretty suspicious of the motivation of a liberal newspaper telling a conservative who NOT to vote for.

Yeah. It is funny how a democratic party affiliated newspaper’s un-endorsement is used by some so called conservatives against Romney. The fact that liberals hate him should be a merit (at least among conservatives).

What next? DNC attack ads are used against Mitt in this forum? Wait..It is happening..

That’s pretty much the worst thing you could call a candidate before the Iowa primaries. Iowans pride themselves on finding “authentic” candidates.

This would favor Hunter.

.

According to Intrade, the winner of yesterday’s GOP debate was... Duncan Hunter.

Bingo!

The facts are the facts:

1. Mitt was PASSIONATELY pro-abortion — even on video -— until he decided to run for office.

2. Mitt was anti-gun — well until he joined the NRA two weeks before running for office.

3. RomneyCare is HillaryCare — but with $50 abortions

4. Raised “fees” (taxes under a different name) for businesses.

5. Promised to be ‘more gay friendly’ than Ted Kennedy.

6. Wanted gays in the Boy Scouts.

Basicaly, Romney is a say-anthing-to-get-elected sociopath, just like Clinton.

Liberal rag or not, the facts are the facts.

Maybe you guys are more liberal than you thought. Here we have a liberal paper in panic mode, sounding just like you! ;)
"Americans acknowledge that liberty is a gift of God, not an indulgence of government. No people in the history of the world have sacrificed as much for liberty. The lives of hundreds of thousands of America's sons and daughters were laid down during the last century to preserve freedom, for us and for freedom loving people throughout the world. America took nothing from that Century's terrible wars – no land from Germany or Japan or Korea; no treasure; no oath of fealty. America's resolve in the defense of liberty has been tested time and again. It has not been found wanting, nor must it ever be. America must never falter in holding high the banner of freedom.

"These American values, this great moral heritage, is shared and lived in my religion as it is in yours. I was taught in my home to honor God and love my neighbor. I saw my father march with Martin Luther King. I saw my parents provide compassionate care to others, in personal ways to people nearby, and in just as consequential ways in leading national volunteer movements. I am moved by the Lord's words: 'For I was an hungered, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: naked, and ye clothed me...'

"My faith is grounded on these truths. You can witness them in Ann and my marriage and in our family. We are a long way from perfect and we have surely stumbled along the way, but our aspirations, our values, are the self-same as those from the other faiths that stand upon this common foundation. And these convictions will indeed inform my presidency.

Excerpt from Governor Mitt Romney's "Faith In America" Address, Thursday, Dec 6, 2007

I saw Jesus suffering on the cross for you and me.

I see a bright future for America!

God bless you and Merry Christmas FReeper FRiends.
