Buckley knocks 'Savage' comment
Union Leader ^ | 12-16-2007 | GARRY RAYNO

Posted on 12/15/2007 10:43:59 PM PST by MrCFdovnh

Manchester – State Democratic Party Chairman Raymond Buckley yesterday condemned nationally syndicated radio show host Michael Savage for remarks he made about New Hampshire and its place in the presidential nominating process.

Last week on his program, "The Savage Nation," Savage said "Why are we still running elections like it's the 19th Century, where New Hampshire determines the election? A bunch of yokels in New Hampshire are going to determine the election as much as my dog is going to determine the election."

Buckley called on Fergus Cullen, chair of the state Republican Party, to join him in asking the Republican presidential candidates to condemn Savage for his attack.

Cullen said yesterday he had not heard the comments, nor heard of them, and did not want to comment.

Savages remarks targeted Iowa, site of the nation's first presidential caucuses next month, as well as the Granite State.

"What kind of rubbish is this that New Hampshire -- a bunch of drunks up there -- and Iowa, they're going to determine the outcome of an election? Who came up with that nonsense? That's like believing in Santa Claus. If you believe that a bunch of drunks in New Hampshire and a bunch of stamp collectors in New Hampshire and a bunch of corn farmers in Iowa really are going to predict who the next President is going to be, that is like believing in Santa Claus," Savage said.

I find myself agreeing with Savage this time. Like a caller to Hannity why should 2 states decide the nomination?

WHAT THE HECK IS WRONG WITH THESE LIBERALS???

I listen to Savage every day, I heard what he said. It is called satire. Savage is not a journalist or news anchor, he is a commentator, and a shock jock like Imus.

These liberals are offended by everything.

Well, right now it looks like they are voting against Hillary, so let's stay quiet until after she is defeated.

I try and spread my listening time around. Here of late in the bay area , we have quite a few different offerings so we are actually pretty blessed.. Ya got Rush, Levin, Boortz, Savage to name a few. Some I am pretty much in sync with, altho some have their pecularities but as long as the change channel button works, we get along just fine.

Altho I can also go for long periods of time without listening to much of any of them.. and be perfectly content to do so.

It must be rough on all those lamebrain media matters monitors tho.. lol. they have to listen..

I like Hannity for hard news analysis, and Savage for just getting a bit loopy and wishing a pox on both houses with much heat and hyperbole. Savage is a diamond in the rough, to be sure, and he may indeed be a Manchurian talk show host, and Levine sometimes says. But now and again he cusses out the moonbats like nobody’s business, and perhaps I need this as catharsis.

As a starting point, I'd like one who isn't afraid to broadcast under his real name.

And - this might be asking a bit much, I realize - maybe a guy who isn't utterly shocked to learn that a Baptist Minister (Jerry Falwell) believes you have to accept Jesus to get into heaven.

I'd also like a guy who doesn't buy into the global warming crapola, won't regale me with inane stories about the restaurant he ate at the prvious night, and isn't obsessed with attacking other conservative talk-show hosts.

Weiner spends more time attacking Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly, et al than he does attacking leftists. But I've never heard one of those guys mention Weiner.

He's a fraud. He should go back to writing about the magical medicinal properties of tree bark.

Hank

You are entitled to your opinion. But Savage is not a fraud, and he doesnt buy into global warming. He attacks other hosts for NOT standing up for
HIM. He defended Oreilly during his producer scandal and he defended Rush during his drug scandal. Savage has been attacked by illegal aliens and CAIR, and no host stands up for him (except Laura Ingraham!!).

You can listen to Rush and O’reilly for politics, or you can listen to Savage and learn a little bit about botany, epidimiology, natural history, biblical history, as well as nutrition and health. When it comes to global warming, Savage has the scientific background with 3 high level degrees to analyze the science of global warming and disprove Gore and others.

I have no idea who Wallbanger and girly man are...
I assume Hush=Rush.

If you have a problem with Rush then you must be a flaming
leftist DUmmie.
Rush reaches more people every day then any other commentator
and has done more for the conservative movement then any other person in the world.

As a starting point, I'd like one who isn't afraid to broadcast under his real name.

I'm thinking that you are being disengenuous in this complain. Many entertainers choose names with more appeal.

Savage makes for better marketing than Weiner. He uses it for obvious reasons and probably for some not so obvious reasons. Only an idiot would expect him to broadcast under the name Weiner.

I'm guessing you know this.

I'm also guessing that you enjoy referring to him as Weiner yourself because, well, Weiner sounds funny. Your insistance on using it may be a subtle, subconscious or intentional Ad Hominem attempt itself. It is easy to pull off because you can always cry innocent. Weiner is his name afterall, right? You are merely engaging in the kind of slick game someone like a slick attorney or Chuck Schumer plays (hard to explicity call it out, but most see through the disengenuousness of it all).

I'd also like a guy who doesn't buy into the global warming crapola...

Are you ignorant on this topic, or are you intentionally lying for reasons only you would know?

Savage (Weiner for you, LOL) has played extensive audio of a professor, whom he reveres, delivering a lecture that discredits the man-made global warming myth. He rails against the global warming agenda for what it is - an attempt at globabl socialism.

I will grant that Savage has his weak points, but the two you describe above are silly or shallow and wrong, respectively.

His attacks on other hosts and his constant need for credit betray an obvious insecurity. He swings high and low, which indicate a certain level of manic depression. He may hate the left because despite having run with Ginsburg, et al. in his past, he was never fully accepted into their scene. He is a complex character that never fits anywhere, most likely due to his personality. Even the name Weiner probably helped to shape who he is lol.

One might suspect that all his negatives help contribute to his success in talk radio. To some extent, he probably has a sympathetic audience and many may identify with certain tragic elements of who he is.

That's my pop-psychological, simplistic and probably unoriginal analysis on the subject.
