Rollins: Huckabee Can Fill Reagan's Shoes

CONCORD, N.H. -- Mike Huckabee's low-budget, fast-moving campaign brought on some needed organizational muscle today in the form of Ed Rollins, the veteran political strategist for candidates including Ronald Reagan -- to whom he today compared his new client for his ability to communicate and connect with voters.

"Governor Huckabee has probably inspired me as much as Ronald Reagan did," Rollins said after being introduced by Huckabee at a press conference here. "I've looked a long time to find a candidate like that...A lot of people walk around talking about the Reagan days and the next Reagan. I was with the old Reagan and I can promise you that this man comes as close as anyone to filling those shoes."

Where is that tea kettle boiling sound coming from. Ah yes from some FReepers with steam coming out of their ears at Huckabee's rise.

Rollins: Huckabee Can Fill Reagan's Shoes

So could Hillary.  The question is, with what?

This statement by Rawlins cheapens the memory of President Ronald Reagan.  If Mike Huckabee could fill Reagan's shoes being who he is, then Reagan couldn't have been the man we remember him to have been.  Ed, you should be ashamed.  President Reagan was a great man.

who cares what Rollins thinks. Anyone who loves the idea of Liberty and the true meaning of Republic, owes it to themselves to read and study Huck's record. I did such. I was astounded at how much of a statist is Huck. Huck's first instinct is to have government "solve" problems. The last thing that would cross Huck's mind is to ask, "is it Constitutional."

Anyone who cherishes limited government and reveres our Constitution cannot rationally support Huck. Huck is a pro-life ultra left liberal. Providence will not allow Huck to win the nomination.

I guess you aren't a student of US national elections. I suggest you go back over the past 28 years and see how the polls were this far out from Iowa, NH and others. In politics three weeks is an eternity.

The last thing conservatives need is to get on this MSM created candidate. Huck's surge has prompted me to donate more $$ to Fred and encourage many of my family and friends to do likewise. It isn't over until the votes are counted. Huck will fall.

Following the 1993 elections, during a breakfast debriefing, Rollins admitted to journalists that one factor in the success of Christine Todd Whitman in the New Jersey governor’s race against incumbent Democrat Jim Florio had been the distribution of “walking around” money to influential persons in inner-city precincts, including African-American pastors.

According to Rollins, workers who had been hired to help get out the Democratic vote were told, “How much have they paid you to do your normal duty? . . . We’ll match it. Go home, sit, and watch television.” In addition, Rollins said, “We went into black churches and we basically said to ministers who had endorsed Florio, ‘Do you have a special project?’ And they said, ‘We’ve already endorsed Florio.’ And we said, ‘That’s fine, don’t get up on the Sunday pulpit and preach. . . . Don’t get up there and say it’s your moral obligation that you go out on Tuesday and vote for Jim Florio.’” Ministers who cooperated, Rollins said, received contributions to their “favorite charities.” As a result, Rollins said, “I think, to a certain extent, we suppressed their vote.”

No wonder Rollins is working for Huck, he is going with the RINO, liberal in conservative clothing.

You can take the boy out of Arkansas, but you can't take Arkansas out of the boy:

Huck's gift-givers ended up in state posts

14 December 2007

Mike Huckabee accepted more than 90 gifts from 21 Arkansans he appointed to state posts during his decade as governor, a Politico analysis of state public records found.

-snip-

Huckabee's personal attorney, Kevin Crass, was designated by his campaign to respond to Politico. It's "a coincidence" that there's some overlap between the list of gift givers and appointments, said Crass, adding Huckabee "understood that you can't trade appointments for gifts and that didn't happen."

The only thing Huckabee and Reagan have in common is that they both started their careers in radio.

Huckabee also got a degree in speech and communications - but, surprisingly, DOES NOT have a theology degree as he has claimed.
