Barack Obama on Monday won the endorsement of one of Congress' staunchest opponents of the Iraq war.
Rep. Barbara Lee, D-Calif., said she believes Obama is the most committed among the Democratic presidential hopefuls to ending the war.
"This is, for me, about Sen. Obama being the right person at the right time for our nation," Lee, who represents Oakland, said during a conference call with reporters.
In endorsing Obama, Lee parted ways with another prominent black Oakland Democrat and her former boss, Mayor Ronald Dellums. Dellums, who spent 27 years in Congress representing the district Lee now serves, endorsed Hillary Rodham Clinton in October.
"I did not arrive at this decision lightly," Lee said, adding that she thinks it's healthy that black politicians can disagree because they have more than one option.
"African American voters are being very intelligent and very discerning about how they are evaluating all the candidates," Lee said.
Opinion polls show Clinton with a wide margin among likely voters in the state's Feb. 5 primary election.
I wonder who Angela Davis is supporting?
Shocked!
While I want the beast to loose, I do not look forward to the racism to come!
One of my best friends ran against her for State Senate in 1996.
Uh, oh, Hitlery’s beginning to lose plantation Negroes. Good!
oh,my,gawd...
the lone House rep No vote on going into Iraq.. a Dellums underling .. that area is messed up to elect Reds.. amazing.
And now for Maxine Waters pick!!!!This is going to be a hoot
I have a vision of B Obama doing the entry with Babs humping his leg on live TV.
And that is good?
Barbara Lee - was never a plantation Negro — she’s a communist and self loathing American who would have been one wielding the whip as an overseer for “massa”.....
Only in Kalifornicate districts heavily populated by blacks and leftists from Berkley to Oakland, containing like thinking lunatics could a Barbara Lee get elected to office..
These leftist and racist black “politicians” constantly elected in these districts have overseen a greater decline in the living and moral standards of their electorate..
How can one be expected to respect an electorate that sends folks like this to office -— decade after decade???
Ouch . . . that’s gotta hurt.
I am shocked !! I am more and more shocked each passing day at the nice folks that are certain Obama is the man!! When will they get to ask him about his religious up bringing? They do get to ask right?
I think Obama populating his stage with a lot of blacks is going to hurt him. It’s going to look and feel like a potential black presidency with affirmative action, reparations, and racism thrust in our faces from dawn to dusk.
that can’t help.....
