Please support Michael Savage's fight against CAIR

SAN FRANCISCO—Conservative radio talk show host Michael Savage sued an Islamic civil rights group on Monday for copyright infringement over the organization's use of a 4-minute segment of his show in which he called the Quran a "book of hate."

Savage said the Washington, D.C.-based Council on American-Islamic Relations, or CAIR, violated his rights by wrongfully using the segment of his Oct. 29 "The Savage Nation" show in a letter-writing campaign directed against talk radio advertisers.

In the broadcast, Savage called the Muslim holy book "a throwback document" and a "book of hate."

"What kind of religion is this? What kind of world are you living in when you let them in here with that throwback document in their hand, which is a book of hate," Savage said during the portion of the broadcast highlighted by CAIR. "Don't tell me I need reeducation. They need deportation."

In an interview with The Associated Press on Monday, Savage said he was talking about Iran president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and his dangerous and violent brand of Islamic extremism, not about the religion, in general.

Savage said he strongly supports freedom of speech, but "it's another thing to take away a man's millstone and try to put him out of business."

A CAIR spokeswoman, who said the audio was not a four-minute segment, but a series of clips separated by beeps, called the suit, filed in federal court in San Francisco, "bizarre, sloppy and baseless."

Please donate to his fund and help fight CAIR. Love him or hate him, Mike has an excellent lawsuit and an even better attorney. I'm committing myself to 15% of my monthly income (which isn't much) until this is over.

Oh come on 15%. He has plenty of support and money of his own.
Having said that, as much as I can’t stand his show CAIR is more “not standing” these people need to be stopped and Savage does have the bings to damage them.
CAIR is no more valuable than Crap Arraigned In Rings.

Yes I’m sure he has plenty of money of his own. That is irrelevant.

He’s not out to make money. He wants these thugs shut down.

I rarely listen to him, but I absolutely can NOT let him fall victim to these 14th century barbarians.

They are just starting with him, using our own judicial system against us ("flying imams" is another example).

If they win this one, they will be encouraged to continue their plan.

I would guess that the enemies of Mike Savage would let it happen to get rid of him, even though they recognize that CAIR is a subversive organization. As far as having money of his own, CAIR has unlimited resources (millions of dollars in donations, not to mention political connections and economic relationships) to attack Mike. I do not think that Savage has $24 million dollars to defend himself from this corrupt organization.

Folks who want to donate should consider pledging a fixed amount per month to his defense fund until it is over.

Which is exactly what I'm doing. Thank you for the reply

‘Mikey’ isn’t taking care of himself, per se. He’s launched the lawsuit on behalf of us all, or can you not see that?

Michael Savage stars in this year’s remake of “Miracle on 34th Street”, where a court affirms that Yes, Virginia, the Koran really is a book of hate.

I agree. I rarely listen to him too, as I disagree with allot of what he says. Now he is right about liberals, and he is right about Islamic extremism. I am also very glad he is doing more than just talking about these groups, he is fighting back. Id like to see more conservative groups or individuals do the same and get pro-active against groups like CAIR.

But the Koran is a book of hate. What’s the problem? All one has to do is quote it in a courtroom.

I'm with you. I listen once in a while. I don't always agree with his opinions or delivery, but I donated to the defense fund over the weekend.

Not much; it's a bit difficult at Christmas time.

Why is CAIR even allowed? I thought we were not to harbor terrorist!
Why are they allowed to continue with their track record?

Why is CAIR even allowed?

In such a 'progressive' society such as ours, we must allow co-defendants in terrorism. Natch.

Savage is the loud voice in the wilderness. Love him or not he stands as one of the few males on radio. I hope he is successful. CAIR is nothing but a Nazi-type organization and will crumble like a house of cards one day.

Also during the first 30 minutes of his April 16, 2007 show, Weiner called the Republicans running for President in 2008 "empty-suits". Weiner singled out Mayor Rudolph Giuliani by name.

“They are just starting with him, using our own judicial system against us (”flying imams” is another example).”

I’m not sure this is a fair characterization of this lawsuit. It’s hard to accuse CAIR of “using our own judicial system against us” in this case, when it was Savage who brought the lawsuit, not CAIR.

I (of course) agree with Savage’s comments about Islam, but at first glance, I have my reservations about this lawsuit. I could see how it might have a chilling effect on legitimate protected speech, and, if successful, could have implications on “fair use” that extend far beyond CAIR.

“CAIR vs. Savage” reminds me of what Henry Kissinger(?) said about the Iran-Iraq War: “It’s a pity they both can’t lose.” IIRC
