THE Tories branded members of the Labour Government 'three wise monkeys' today in the wake of the secret donations scandal.

Theresa May, the Shadow Leader of the Commons, blasted Harriet Harman, the Prime Minister and the Labour Party treasurer in a stormy Commons row.

Ms May said: “You, the Prime Minister and the Labour Party treasurer are like the three wise monkeys.

"You see no evil, hear no evil and speak no evil.”

The 44-year-old warned Mrs Harman that the “dodgy donations” scandal could result in a further boost for the Conservatives in the opinion polls.

She said: “Quite simply it won’t wash. The public know sleaze when they see it, the people know spin when they hear it and the voters know what to do when they have their say.

“They will get rid of this sleazy Labour Government.”

Ms May went on to demand that Mrs Harman issue a statement over the donations she accepted in her deputy leadership bid.

The Deputy Prime Minister insisted that she had committed 'no crime' in accepting £5,000 from Janet Kidd, who was actually donating the money on behalf of the property tycoon David Abrahams.

Mrs Harman said: “In respect of my deputy leadership campaign and donations to my deputy leadership campaign, myself and my campaign team acted at all times in good faith.

“We acted at all times within both the letter and the spirit of the law.”

The money was used to help fund her successful campaign to become the Prime Minister’s number two.

Mrs Harman said her team knew nothing about the proxy arrangement and accepted the donation as Ms Kidd was registered as a donor to the party in the past.

The Labour deputy, who is also Leader of the House Of Commons said: “You can huff and puff but you will not blow this House down.”

The latest Commons row comes after the Prime Minister defended the actions of his deputy earlier this week at his monthly press conference.

Mr Brown ensured MPs at the meeting that all funds which were illegally donated to the Labour Party would be returned.

He said: “What has happened, where political donations have not been lawfully declared, is completely unacceptable, cannot be justified in any way, and this behaviour should never happen again in future.”

The Labour leader added that the party would take advice on future safeguards on receiving donations in light of the scandal.

The administration has been left reeling after the loss of child benefit records, the ongoing Northern Rock crisis and blistering attacks from former army chiefs.

In the latest opinion poll, published this week, the Tories had a 13-point lead - its biggest lead for nearly 20 years and enough to secure a 64-seat Commons majority.

Straight from the Hillary Clinton playbook. Yes, those Chinese immigrants making minimum wage can afford to donate $2300 to Hillary’s campaign. Really.

The ironic thing is, one of these people who was used (she didn’t even know about it) is a confessed TORY supporter.
