I do hope God blessed Hyde with repentant, saving faith in Christ while he lived. His speech during The Nameless One’s impeachment was stirring; I doubt I’ll forget it. And the Hyde Amendment was a great legacy to leave.

He earned his legacy.
He stood nearly alone in the breach.

How sad. He stood up against the Clinton slime machine and paid dearly. But, nonetheless, he stood. May God rest his soul.

I remember seeing him in the hallway during the Impeachment Dinner. He looked as though he would rather be anywhere but there. He was also a victim of Hillary’s FBI files.

Some office holders of long tenure become pliable and more compliant to their fellow office holders as they age. Others develop character and confidence in their principles and become, Statesmen.
Hyde was a shining example of the later course in how to serve.

I remember seeing Henry Hyde at one of the Catholic parishes around Capitol Hill a few times when I worked in that area. He was a devout Catholic Christian, and it reallly came out in his staunch pro-life stance.
Eternal rest, grant unto him, O Lord, and may perpetual light shine upon him. May he and all the souls of the faithful departed rest in peace. Amen.

I am deeply saddened to hear it. He served faithfully for decades and was such a champion of the pro life movement. Sad that he had such a short time after retiring before he passed away. I suppose if he had run for reelection last year we would be looking at another unfortunate vacancy now. Hopefully his successor Rep Roskam will serve for many years.
