Defining the Loony Left: Thanksgiving Hatred?
http://newsbusters.org/blogs/tim-graham/2007/11/25/defining-loony-left-thanksgiving-hatred ^

The website The Black Commentator defined the loony left by calling for the end of the Thanksgiving holiday, since it's apparently an event for white supremacists. This is more about the Internet than the mainstream media, but remember that liberal blacks the news producers treat as sensible pundits -- like Julian Bond of the hallowed NAACP and Julianne Malveaux, the woman who hoped on PBS that Clarence Thomas would die young -- are on this website's board. Here's just a snippet of their anti-Thanksgiving rant:

Nobody celebrates Thanksgiving quite like Americans celebrate Thanksgiving. It is reserved by history and the intent of "the founders" as the supremely white American holiday, the most ghoulish event on the national calendar. No Halloween of the imagination can rival the exterminationist reality that was the genesis, and remains the legacy, of the American Thanksgiving. It is the most loathsome, humanity-insulting day of the year – a pure glorification of racist barbarity.

Unreal. And year by year, the attacks against Thanksgiving will grow.

General Thanksgiving
By the PRESIDENT of the United States Of America
A PROCLAMATION

WHEREAS it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favour; and Whereas both Houses of Congress have, by their joint committee, requested me “to recommend to the people of the United States a DAY OF PUBLICK THANSGIVING and PRAYER, to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many and signal favors of Almighty God, especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness:”

NOW THEREFORE, I do recommend and assign THURSDAY, the TWENTY-SIXTH DAY of NOVEMBER next, to be devoted by the people of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being who is the beneficent author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be; that we may then all unite in rendering unto Him our sincere and humble thanks for His kind care and protection of the people of this country previous to their becoming a nation; for the signal and manifold mercies and the favorable interpositions of His providence in the course and conclusion of the late war; for the great degree of tranquility, union, and plenty which we have since enjoyed;— for the peaceable and rational manner in which we have been enable to establish Constitutions of government for our safety and happiness, and particularly the national one now lately instituted;— for the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed, and the means we have of acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge;— and, in general, for all the great and various favours which He has been pleased to confer upon us.

And also, that we may then unite in most humbly offering our prayers and supplications to the great Lord and Ruler of Nations and beseech Him to pardon our national and other transgressions;— to enable us all, whether in publick or private stations, to perform our several and relative duties properly and punctually; to render our National Government a blessing to all the people by constantly being a Government of wise, just, and constitutional laws, discreetly and faithfully executed and obeyed; to protect and guide all sovereigns and nations (especially such as have shewn kindness unto us); and to bless them with good governments, peace, and concord; to promote the knowledge and practice of true religion and virtue, and the increase of science among them and us; and, generally to grant unto all mankind such a degree of temporal prosperity as he alone knows to be best.

GIVEN under my hand, at the city of New-York, the third day of October, in the year of our Lord, one thousand seven hundred and eighty-nine.

(signed) G. Washington

The people who vote for liberals ought to realize their votes just provide political cover for these nutcases. The more you give them a pass, the worse they’re going to get.

I never thought I’d see the day when “Americans” were so unpatriotic and religiously bigoted.

Time to fight back, Decent America.

I didn't realize that Malveaux has a Ph.D. and is a college president.

The liberal Seattle cartoonist David Horsey stopped drawing cartoons attacking the Republicans long enough to draw one making fun of the Seattle public schools' attack on Thanksgiving. Sometimes even liberals think the PC nonsense has gone too far.

Canada has a Thanksgiving Day which is earlier (October) but I don’t know if it is celebrated with as much fervor as the American holiday is. Probably fewer football games on, and no anticipation of a big shopping day on the day after.

I guess I’m a little thick - The (white) pilgrims and the Native Americans - 90 of them - making it about a 50-50 deal, all feasted, sang and played games for 3 days = and they’re ‘racist”? They were the only 2 races in the neighborhood = for hundreds of miles.

Indeed, the Pilgrims, after meeting and getting to know the Indians, admired them a great deal and became fast friends with them, inter-visiting and entertaining, drew up a mutually beneficial treaty - a truly 50-50 one - that was NEVER broken - and they never felt the need, once they met them to ‘convert’ them but accepted them as they were.

It wasn’t until ALL of the original Plymouth Pilgrims and their Indians counterparts, like Samoset and Massasoit, were all dead, that the cr*p started = by the PURITANS of the Boston Bay Colony that overran Plymouth Colony...and DID NOT celebrate Thanksgiving.

It was the stiff necked PURITANS who wore black and white, didn’t allow singing or dancing and demanded the ‘heathens’ be converted, etc. For nearly 400 years, historians mixed the Plymouth Pilgrims up with this nasty bunch = and the schools perpetuated it = It has only been the past VERY few years that these ridiculous errors have been looked at...but the screwed up, mangled brains among us are not about to let anything like the truth get in their way.

There were some native tribes that the Pilgrims fought with - they were the enemy tribes of the Indians that made treaty with the Pilgrims = The tribes that were friends with the Pilgrims were in danger of being wiped out by their enemies = and the Pilgrims came just at the right time. Part of the treaty was to come to the aid of the other should either be attacked by the warring tribes - and both parties of the treaty had occasion to live up to it.

A pox on these numb n*ts

It's pathetic that these leftist kooks don't even know what the meaning of thanksgiving is, and how this racist revisionist American history teaching is allowed to be taught in the pubic school system. I have been noting that a lot of this "evil white European Christian early American settler stuff is being taught by MUSLIM teachers, who then teach stuff like "middle east studies" which is just Islamic religion under a different name.
Amazingly enough, blacks are being recruited in large numbers. This revisionist Islamic teaching, which also convinces black students that their true religion, Islam, was suppressed as was much of their African traditions when they were brought over by white Christians, who then forced their "evil" Christian ways and religion on them, just like they did the Indians.

Of course this is revisionist "history" of the highest order, and conveniantly omits the fact that Islam were and still is the main black slave traders of the world.

Yet nothing is done to stop this crap from being taught in the schools, and propagated by the media.

So yes, you can expect this to grow worse and worse each passing year.

"Canada has a Thanksgiving Day which is earlier (October) but I don’t know if it is celebrated with as much fervor as the American holiday is. Probably fewer football games on, and no anticipation of a big shopping day on the day after."

It is rooted in Christian tradition of giving thanks to the Lord for an abundant harvest. It isn't very "commercial" like here in the USA. Even for the non-religious, it's a traditional family dinner get together, even though they forgot why.
Like here, it's gradually being eroded and attacked by Satan's little helpers ( Marxist moonbats.

There is good news from Canada today. Stephen harper killed the Koyoto accord, and got all commonwealth countries to sign a non- binding agreement. In short, there will be no accord until every country on the planet is equally obligated to reduce "greenhouse gases. Needless to say, all those african countries that were hoping to cash in aren't very happy, nor is Russia and China.

Calling it turkey day never used to bother me. Nor did saying seasons greetings or happy holidays. They were just alternative ways of saying happy thanksgiving and merry christmas. You get tired of saying it the same old way every time. It wasn’t until the left started trying to control the language that I started to develop a deep resentment about it.

Okay, now that I've read the article, mostly, and the other posts, I see Canada and Britain celebrate a "thanksgiving holiday".

GBr. belongs to the EU, and they've taken most if not all references to Christianity out of their history books, so their "thanksgiving" is hereafter null and void.

Canada gave us hockey, so that's a point in their favor, but their national sport is curling. Curling, and they don't even play football the right way, and they're socialist leftists so their "thanksgiving" can't be counted either.

Like I said, THANKSGIVING IS AN AMERICAN HOLIDAY!!
