In Tokyo, on Channel 10, Asahi TV (also broadcast nationwide) on popular Sunday morning discussion and news analysis talk show "SUNDAY PROJECT".It is showing former US Ambassador to the U.N. conservative John Bolton make very strong statements against new Bush Adminstration approach of carrot (and no stick) on North Korea.
They are splicing in footage of mealy mouth pansie State Department types making quisling-ish comments at press conference.
TOPICS: Foreign Affairs; Japan
KEYWORDS: appeasement; asahi; axis; bolton; condi; dprk; duncanhunter; korea; northkorea; pyongyang; sellout

They are also showing reaction to new Bush-Condi approach to North Korea (Japanese TV calling it <<大幅な譲歩>> in reference to the new US policy, or "considerable compromise" to the North Korean side. They are also typifying this new approach by the Bush Administration as <<歩み寄り>> or "giving in" to North Korea.
They are splicing in dramatic footage of North Korea harboring Japanese Red Army terrorists, bombing of Korean Airliner over Andaman Sea by North Korea agents, and the most destructive blowing up of a South Korean delegation in Burma in 1983--assassination attempt on South Korean President Chun Do Wan--all aspects intricately directed by North Korea and never admitted or prosecuted (as opposed to efforts by Libya to right things by admission and reparations). Interspliced are very recent images of U.S. State Department spokesmen and negotiators (Chris Hill) wiggling with public statements that look to get North Korea off the hook, and otherwise making them look foolish.
The bottom line seems to be, from the TV Asahi documentary and discussion, that it is only a matter of time that North Korea is taken off of the U.S. Goverment's list of terrorist countries, and Kim Jong-il wins. The reason for this is one year left in the Bush Administration with little power left. They are also showing critical Japanese and Americans, including families of kidnapped Japanese (to North Korea) REALLY COMING DOWN HARD ON WASHINGTON--and calling it's new approach patently "double standard".

What a traitor!!! How dare he criticize our commander-in-chief in time of war. He could be putting our troops in Korea in harm’s way with this kind of treason.

I might add his appearance appeared to be taped and was done in the US, he was not on live. The TV panel discussion discussing his comments, and Bush’s appeasement and caving in to North Korea, was in fact discussed in studio.

I don't think we've executed a traitor since the Rosenbergs (and that was over 50 yrs ago). IMHO they were executed as spies, not traitors (though they were, of course). Treason too hard to prove, don't know how long it has been since we executed someone for that.

Oh, excuse me.
For our citizens to verbally, publically trash our nation—while visiting other nations—during a war isn’t treason?
Because there are numerous acts of treason occurring in this war is no reason to disallow the use of the word.

The central issue, IMO, is that S. Korea’s government is anti-US and in the past openly supported demonstrations demanding the US get out of S. Korea.
As far as I’m concerned, we should pull our troops out of S. Korea and give them what they want. Let the South Koreans deal with the Chi-pet dictator’s army when they come swarming south.
This would provide a wonderful foreign relations “teaching moment” for a whole lot of ungrateful countries in the world: bad mouth the US, get what you want, and the ramifications that go with it.

I was really pod at that, too. LBJ was in it for the money. If the shoe fits then wear it. Bush's Asian foreign policy is a royal disaster and equal to that of LBJ. Our electeds policies of appeasing tyrants should not be tolerated. Those who speak against our elected who are those appeasers do us a good service.

I dont believe in taking it outside of the nation. If he had done it on North Korea TV I could see some validity to that. But he did not support North Korea, the interview was inside a longstanding alliance nation, and we are not currently at war {actively} with North Korea.
BTW as for LBJ being in it for the money? Yea so are da Bush's too in China. Of course many were mad when it was Hill and Bills family but when da Bush's hugged the Chicoms it was one big happy family. A passive policy with NK will get us nothing but grief.
