BOISE -- Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney spent some time in Boise this morning and gathered a lot of money for his campaign.
He attended a fundraising breakfast at Hillcrest Country Club where about 150 people donated more than $100,000 total.
Afterwards, the former Massachusetts governor talked about two of his key issues.
"I also have described how I would strengthen our economy, and that's getting us independent from foreign oil, and it's enforcing our immigration laws so we can have legal immigration but end illegal immigration," said Romney.
Romney also answered a question about Senator Larry Craig.
As we reported in August, the senator stepped down as the Romney presidential campaign's Senate liaison after news of the senator's arrest in a Minneapolis airport broke.
At the time, Romney had harsh words for Craig, saying, "I can't make sure all my supporters live their lives properly."
This morning, Romney said this about Craig.
"I don't have any further comments on Senator Craigs tenure or experience, that's something Ive spoken about before. I don't really have anything to add to what Ive said before. I can tell you that I am focused on the future," said Romney.
Lt. Gov. Jim Risch is the chairman of Romneys Idaho campaign.
This was Romneys fourth visit to Idaho this year.
That’s an average of $666 dollars per attendee.
Mitt is a Liberal not a Conservative. Government forced health care, anti Second Amendment, and pro abortion are not Conservative values.
It appears the people of Idaho do not agree with your assessment. Come to think of it, the people of South Carolina are starting to disagree with you assessment as well. Duncan/Romney for a great America!!!!
LOL
One needs to factor in that a higher per capita percentage of mormons live in Southern Idaho and may well have flexed some personal political muscle in supporting this national candidate. A lot of those folks would like to see one of their own succeed.
A lot of good and God-fearing people in Idaho, but just saying, the percentage are there.
plus you don't post policy facts of Mitt just bull shit about poll results.
You need to learn what the difference is between a Conservative and a Lib, especially when you write Duncan/Romney
I have looked at Romney and Duncan and I have come to the conclusion that this is a great combination. I don’t think the Romney is a lib. I know for a fact that Duncan is not a lib. So your post is invalid. Also I don’t just bullshit about polls. I speak the truth.
Romney is not anti-second amendment, although he did support some minor restrictions at the state level. Other candidates apparently also support states rights to make some rules regarding guns.
Romney is not pro-abortion, his policies and positions are strongly pro-life, including his position on the HLA, judges, federal abortion funding, embryonic stem cell research, and human cloning.
Romney is not for government-forced health care either at a state of federal level. He did have government-incentivized universal HEALTH CARE COVERAGE (not health care) enacted in Mass. It was not a criminal code, you could go without insurance but if you could not prove you had the means to pay for unexpected medical bills, you would have to pay taxes to the government to cover the possibility you would get sick and the government would have to cover your medical treatment.
I think people should be allowed to opt out of paying the government, in exchange for signing an irrevocable waver refusing all treatment that isn’t paid for ahead of time.
Would you sign such a waver? Only if you had a death wish, but then a person who really didn’t want to burden the other taxpayers could do so without having to pay extra taxes. That however was not part of Romney’s plan.
Amendment II A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed."
Romney is not pro-abortion, his policies and positions are strongly pro-life,
"April 11th 2007 Today several pro-life leaders from across the country called on Mitt Romney to call for the immediate repeal of the bill he signed into law one year ago tomorrow that expanded taxpayer-funded abortions in Massachusetts, and which includes Planned Parenthood on an advisory board." "The group also filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request demanding to know the number of abortions that have been paid for with taxpayer dollars as a result of RomneyCare.""someone does not have insurance.
Romney is not for government-forced health care either at a state of federal level. He did have government-incentivized universal HEALTH CARE COVERAGE (not health care) enacted in Mass.
"For the still-uninsured, failure to meet the deadline could translate into a loss of their personal exemption when they file their 2007 state income tax returns in April -- a $219 hit. Under the Massachusetts law signed by Romney, the penalties for the uninsured increase significantly in the second year and accrue for each month someone does not have insurance."
So the incentive is join up or be fined. Sounds like extortion.
