The ancient Greeks would speak of a constitution (politeia) without meaning a single document--one of Aristotle's works is known as "the Athenian constitution" because it describes how the Athenian government worked, but it isn't an official document adopted by the Athenians.
Oops, sorry ‘bout that! I should have known that, and apologize for the slip up. Thanks for setting me straight!
Yep and IMO, Thanksgiving in Canada should be on the same day as in the US (the early harvest is a myth in many areas - even without the global warming fiasco - and it would be better to have consistency).
Trouble is, by end-November a lot of Canada is already buried under snow or very cold, making get-togethers difficult. I actually like early October, it’s closer to the real harvest season.
Cheers. :)
“Mark has a touch of Dave Barry going on there.”
Yes he does!
I believe Liberia copied our Constitution.
Its just a piece of paper unless you take it to heart.
I give thanks that I had an ancestor smart enough to get the hell out of Ireland.
Depends on where you are. In some areas (i.e. much of the populated areas of British Columbia, southern Ontario and parts of Atlantic Canada), the harvest has just begun (or in some years hasn’t even started) in the second week of October.
Correction. Britain had the Magna Carta and Common Law. Neither is operative in Britain today.
