US incapable of striking Iran: Ahmadinejad
India Times ^ | 11/16/07 | India Times

Posted on 11/16/2007 8:28:33 PM PST by freedom44

DUBAI: Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has said that the United States is incapable of launching a military strike against Iran but would "regret" an attack if it carried one out.

"America is today incapable of staging a military strike against Iran for several reasons," Ahmadinejad told Dubai-based Al-Arabiya news channel in an interview, according to an Arabic voice-over of his remarks in Farsi.

The ground is not prepared for a strike in either economic, political or military terms, he said.

"And of course, they know full well that the Iranian people's response (to any attack) will be harsh, and they will regret it," Ahmadinejad said on Friday.

"In practice, then, they do not want to launch a strike against Iran. They are agitating and applying pressure on (UN) Security Council members in order to deceive and extricate themselves from the impasse in which they are," he added.

US Democratic lawmakers on Friday warned the Bush administration was "beating the drums for war" with Iran, and vowed to wield constitutional powers to thwart any military strike.

Their comments came as US President George W Bush fired off a fresh warning that international pressure would grow on the Islamic Republic, unless Tehran agreed to suspend enriching uranium.

Washington accuses Tehran of using its nuclear programme as cover for a drive to develop an atomic bomb, a charge Iran strongly denies, saying it only wants to generate electricity.

It seems we've heard that bravado several times before.

It's hard to tell which is a worse threat to our security: Ahmanutjob or those moronic, traitorous dems in Congress.

President Ahmanutjob is funnier than Redd Foxx, Bill Hicks and Dice Clay rolled into one!! One MIRV’d Trident missile from one SSBN (Nuclear missile submarine) would destroy all so-called civilization in Persia in an instant. No aircraft required. This guy is an engineer?! What the heck?

Ahmadinejad prays toward mecca 5 times a day in hopes the US elects a dem for prez in ‘08. If so, he’s safe for at least another 4 years.

In a way, you almost had to feel sorry for the guy. He knew exactly what was happening, but couldn't deviate from his orders without putting his family in the tender mercies of Saddam and his sons.

But you're right, he was fun to watch.

imo we won’t nuke anybody. don’t have the guts, insight, or whatever it takes. as far as congress goes, we can’t even vote the #astards out or make the newly elected listen.

Remember the “Iraqi Information Minister” website? You could type statements and a virtal Baghdad Bob would utter words in faux Arabic and your writing would appear as a subtitle at the bottom of the screen. That was tons of fun.

No we won’t nuke anybody, not first anyway.

But when Iran is actually on the verge of having a nuclear weapon, the calculus will change. God forbid, should there be a bright white flash over say... Tel Aviv... The calculus goes out the window.

Even with a stinking dem in the White House.

Israel is capable of fighting its own battles. And masterfully so.

But we’ll be involved whether we like it or not. For example: if Iran strikes on Israel (nuclear or otherwise) then Israel will request, and get, flyover rights for Iraq in order to strike at Iran.

May as well provide some additional air support while we’re at it.

A great line from The Hunt for Red October.

Somehow I don’t sense that the men in charge of our country now have nearly the cahones that Fred T’s, and J. Earl Jones’ characters, et al had in that movie..........or in that era, for that matter.

Iran is large and well entrenched.

They have effective enough weaponry to cause damage to attackers.

They have some small nukes that ‘might’ work, they have on missiles ready to go.

They were finishing off some newer, more reliable bombs, and then “pooof”, the whole place disappeared.

Syria will join Iran, if it happens soon. Otherwise, Syria will back down.

Question really is, who else will join Iran in their stand?

The longer it goes on, the longer the rope Iran’s leader chooses to hang himself with. He’s the one that made all these predictions and declarations.

The Iranian people must help. Sharing knowledge is one way.

We have the ability to wreak more havoc on Iran than the apocalypse.

We have the ability.
Do we have the will?
Because we got everyone’s permission on the current battle, and yet it seems it’s being tied up in the courts.

That’s not a smart way to do business.

And it will not work will if we have to force Iran to ‘cooperate’.

Is my memory correct - that Baghdad Bob reported that the “Americans had been defeated in the desert, and at this instant our brave Iraqi soldiers are roasting the stomachs of the dead Americans for their meals”...

Also - I would hope that the scenario in Afghanistan and Iraq have taught us that the “culture” existing in Islamic states is such that GROUND TROOPS should NOT be sent in until AFTER the enemy has been throughly defeated by Air Attacks and is sueing for UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER...

NO MORE CEASE FIRES..
NO MORE OPPORTUNITY FOR CHEAP KILLS ON AMERICANS..
The cost of Jihad MUST go UP, WAY UP.....for THEM.
