Maybe not formal proofs as in math, but in science there are proofs in the ordinary and usual meaning of the word.
ID does not specify a omniscient, all powerful being as designer - it proposes that lots of systems that an organism depends on seem to be too complex to have come out of the evolutionary process. To decide, one must be able to prove that every strand of DNA was arrived at by accident, or that at least one strand of DNA was a GM product.
ID on earth? Unless one can absolutely rule out the existence of more advanced life on other planets, or prove that such life or agent couldn't have visited earth in the past, or prove that they would not violate the universal prime directive: "to not mess around with evolving life on another planet", one cannot totally dismiss the possibility of GM of life on this planet.
Well duh. Goodness knows I put in hours every week reading all of those supposed scholarly articles expanding our knowledge of the process of evolution only because it's expected of me by the Conspiracy. We've got to keep up a scientific front. In reality we're all in it for the womanizing and manizing. I could hardly bear the wholesomeness over Thanksgiving and was glad when I could finally escape and run up to the nearby hilltop to sacrifice a chicken, smear its blood on my face, and dance naked beneath the glowing, glabrous moon. True, it gets pretty darned cold in the middle of the night in late November to be out there stark naked, but the Conspiracy does require some sacrifices (and not just chickens and goats, you know).
Yep, it's all about the lifestyle.
bookmarking that this is where the fun has finished—
I copied that last remark and sent it to a friend—I am sure he will enjoy it as much as I did!
(But were you supposed to let them know about the goats, too—I thought that was our “secret”!)
You can hardly hope to keep the goats undercover for long, my dear sibling in pond scum.
But, I’d like to point out that I am going to have to ask to be called by the “kinder, gentler, more-PC” term of “funk” rather than scum. Scum’s negative connotation is just too hard to get around. :o)
Ah, perhaps you'd like to join us at Darwin Central or read more about the conspiracy here.
