Why don’t we read this in the media. This is very important. HOW have these been thwarted? What procedures have been put in place by this administration in order to stop these before they happened??

Let’s hope they blame Bush.

...........................
Don’t really need to know that...
I hope the media in fact blame Bush BUT it will never happen.
This story won’t see the light of day.

Quiz question you guys - has the US vigorously prosecuted waterboarding as torture in the past? My liberal brother said it and I said non-physical injury coercion I would do myself to save innocent lives, in a New York minute . . . He’s appalled.

Help me here if you would be so kind.

It’s encouraging to see that the conviction rate of these slimeballs is good, though it’s a little disconcerting to see the short sentences some of them are given. Some of these guys are going to be back on the streets in another few years. It would be better if they were in an isolated prison, like Gitmo, where they couldn’t engage in recruiting among other inmates.

Still, this is a great article and the information should (but won’t) receive wider distribution.

Speaking of Guyana:

Shukrijumah, though born in Saudi Arabia, is believed to be a citizen of Yemen. His ethnic heritage is part Yemeni, part Guyanese. He has some family in Guyana and is believed to have a passport from Guyana. He may also have a Saudi, Canadian or Trinidad passport, the release said. El Shukrijumah is described as 5-foot-3 to 5-foot-5, weighing 132 pounds or more, with a Mediterranean complexion, black hair, black eyes and, at times, a beard. His aliases include: Adnan G. El Shukri Jumah, Abu Arif, Ja’far Al-Tayar, Jaffar Al-Tayyar, Jafar Tayar and Jaafar Al-Tayyar, the FBI said. — “Link between wanted Saudi man and ‘dirty bomb’ suspect? : Wanted man described as ‘serious player’,” From Kelli Arena and Kevin Bohn, CNN Washington Bureau, Saturday, March 22, 2003 , http://www.cnn.com/2003/LAW/03/22/fbi.terror.search/

US diplomat Thomas Carroll and Guyanese Halim Khan charged with conspiracy to commit bribery and visa fraud, both of them federal offences. The US Attorney’s Office in Chicago was reported as saying that $535,000 and ten gold bars had been seized from safety deposit boxes controlled by Carroll in the Chicago area, and that officials were trying to freeze additional assets under the control of the two men. The investigation of Carroll, it was stated, had begun in June 1999, after a tip-off from confidential sources. Carroll appeared in court in Chicago on March 22, and was held without bond. Khan had been arrested in Miami. In our edition of March 31, a possible Chinese connection was given coverage, where a restaurant in Georgetown was said to have been a key recruiting point for the visa scam. The report adverted to a possible link between the racket and the stream of illegal Chinese aliens passing through Guyana.
It went on to say that since Carroll and Khan’s arrest, three of the embassy’s local employees had been dismissed and their visas revoked. On April 22 a report of the setting up of an inter-agency local task force to help the US Embassy in its investigations appeared.

APRIL 2, 2004 : (GUYANA : IRANIAN CLERIC MOHAMMAD HASSAN EBRAHIMI IS ABDUCTED IN FRONT OF THE INTERNATIONAL ISLAMIC COLLEGE FOR ADVANCED STUDIES) the Iranian cleric was abducted in front of the college on April 2. He had returned to the college that night after an official of the institution telephoned him to say there was a leak in the building. But nothing was found and while he and the college’s administrator Raymond Halley were about to drive away they were attacked by the gunmen who shot at them. They were ordered out of the vehicle and Halley was shot when he tried to run away. Ebrahimi was dragged from the vehicle and bundled into the waiting AE 192 Toyota Carina of the gunmen, who sped away. There was never any ransom demand, fuelling further suspicion about the abduction. ...It is unclear how much time elapsed before the police responded and what was recovered at the scene of the abduction.
The kidnappers were seen by witnesses, but police have not released descriptions to solicit public assistance. Police have also not said if any forensic evidence was retrieved from the site where the body was recovered.
Police have been silent on possible motives for the kidnapping, though at one stage one of the angles they were exploring was a possible conflict between local Sunni and Shia Muslims.
This is one of the reasons that reportedly led to the search of the ISA Islamic School, a development which drew outrage from the local Muslim community. The Guyana Islamic Trust (GIT), which administers the school, also dismissed insinuations that there was any conflict.
