You are not correct. The military does NOT enlist illegals. Some illegals have used counterfeit documents to enlist in the military, but illegals are not legally allowed to serve. Immigrants who are legally in this country can enlist and can become eligible for citizenship after serving.
Come on. Then all the military would need is a Passport and a visa. If they can’t produce either, TS, can’t enlist. Also if they SWEAR when they enlist that they are not here illegally, then THAT should preclude a path to citizenship if they swear falsely. It’s not rocket science or an insurmountable problem. It just takes the will to do it.

Are all military recruiters inside US territory. What does it matter if someone commits perjury if IT CANT BE PROVED! And geez, even if it is proved, do the Socialists care? Clinton proved that they don’t care.
I guess I don't understand how an illegal immigrant can enter our military. I have two step-sons from Russia. Both are legal residents and have been waiting for their "green cards" (proof of legal residency) for over two years (which BTW was said to come in about 90 days!). Both have taken and passed the entry exams for the U.S. military. They are not allowed they are not allowed to enlist into the U.S. military until they actually receive their green cards! So, they wait!
So, how does an illegal immigrant get a valid green card for entry into the U.S. military?
Look this is about granting a path to Citizenship to these people. In order to get that at some point they have to ADMIT they lied. So what if the recruiters all in the US? You need to provide documentation at the DMV (in most states). Easy to require it of all military recruits. All that needs to happen is the Sec Def needs to order it. Simple will to do it.
A non-caught mexican illegal, is still by law a Mexican National, eligable to file paperwork to become a legal citizen or join the military. There is no way to prove a non-caught illegal is illegal, because they HAVENT BEEN CAUGHT YET! Although their employment history will probably show allot of zeros, since an illegal wouldn’t want to admit working for X-Corporation in X-State. Would probably preclude illegal from being able to obtain a higher security clearance, if they did manage to lie to get into the military. Those guys go over everything with a fine tooth comb.
Actually, you have to submit birth certificates/naturalization certificates when you enter the military. If the military hires an illegal, it does so either because the recruiter turned a blind eye, or because it accepted falsified forms provided by the applicant.
The military should not be recruiting foreign nationals to protect our country. And serving in the military should not be a ‘get-well’ solution, unless Congress passes legislation to make it so.

Not many foreigners join the US military. At this point in time. It could get worse, but at this point in time its a very small fraction. I understand we are not the French Foreign Legion, but at this point in time (coming from a Nativist) I got no problem with a legal (and mentally stable) foreigner joining the military.

Not as a foreigner. I don’t know what types of hoops a non-American has to jump through to join, and I don’t know if there are US recruiting offices in say Mexico City. I am guessing that yes there would be.

Ok, thats news to me. In the airforce, boot camp, I remember only one guy with an accent. This was during the 1990’s. He read the Koran every night. Eeks. I assumed the military recruited outside.
I believe it is perfectly legal for Foreign national to join the military as long as he is willing to take the oath.
Fine. But said foreign national should NOT be granted citizenship if here illegally.

Illegals can't join the military now and should never be allowed to join. We do allow Legal Permanent Residents [green card holders] to join and receive an expedited path to citizenship.

Of course they would. Do you think that anyone can just show up at a recruiting office and join the military? First of all, they must provide documentation, including a birth certificate, SSN, etc. And in order to get a security clearance, they need a background investigation.

I don't know what to believe about this issue. I've read articles that hint strongly at recruiting practices which are intertwined with "cutting the red tape" at ICE (not always for the recruit himself/herself, but possibly for a member of the recruit's family).
Non-citizen soldiers sure seem like a bad idea to me. Really bad. Fall of the Roman Empire bad. What is that saying about failing to learn from history?
