well right off the bat I’ll say no freakin way this will be a good report - Vanity Fair is so liberal it’s publisher uses the mag as an obvious liberal platform each and every month. Just read his own comments. And Nightline? C’mon.

Wish I could watch it. I only had a brief overlap with the 173rd, but they struck me as a professional, solid unit. And KOP is in a TOUGH area - lots of mortars, lots of IEDs.

Yep. I agree. I have long since given up trying to be open-minded about this. Like Charlie Brown kicking the football, time and time again I watched some program on Nightline or PBS with high hopes, only to get pissed off after watching it because they just could NOT resist putting their politics into it.
Case in point, I watched a special on PBS on Carol Burnett the other night. Now, I simply don’t watch television anymore except for football games and such. But my wife was laughing and suggested I come in and watch, because she knows I have always thought Carol Burnett to be pretty funny.
I watched for a while, enjoyed it, and with no warning, it immediately veered into “the fight of female actresses against the male dominated film industry”. There it stayed, until ten minutes later I got up with disgust and walked out to do something else.
They did the same thing with the Ken Burns WWII series. They pull that with everything.
Now I can appreciate hearing about Carol Burnett and her obstacles she overcame to get to the big time. And I appreciate that many minorities did yeoman work during WWII under difficult circumstances and served their country well.
I appreciate those things for what they are...color blind and gender blind.
Liberals have to present EVERY DAMNED THING through their own political prism of class, sex, race, you name it.
So, to expect they might change their spots and present things as they are and not through their damned political prism is, for me, just too much to expect.
I'm going to TIVO it - already got it programmed -and tape it and then get it on DVD

sure - I will. The subject matter is terrific. But, I’m expecting to be really ticked off at the liberal bias they can’t help but thrown in to muddy it up and take away from what should be the focus. Would love to be wrong.
It would seem that many of you are intent on turning this thread into a 'rant' on ABC = and intent on not getting offended rather than the attention being on our troops?
I hope some can put their ire aside for a tiny bit of time - and want to see what is it our troops are going through for us - and freedom...
But I have noticed the past few months - I guess since the infamous FR purge last spring? - that there seems to be more nattering nabobs in FR than there used to be...

What everyone here that calls themselves a Conservative should do is write Congress Reps, Newspapers, March do anything that you can do to get the attention of the media that The Liberals are on the wrong side of History remind everyone that if the Democrats had their way redeploying troops out of Iraq in 05/06... In their words Iraq was lost if they had their way Iraq would now be a bastion of terrorist training camps and Iranian strength... which would have easily migrated into Afghanistan to harm our remaining troops their....
Got that right - just wish they hadn't committed troops - that we counted on, numbers wise - and then not deliver.
But then again, I don't know's I'd want to count on one of them to watch my back

The MSN in this country is devoted to the liberal, leftist line and I do not expect that this pogram will be any different....Thats all... of course I support our guys and would love to see a NightLine piece that gives them credit for their accomplishments...I just don't see it happening...
I wish it were not so. OTOH, not watching TV DOES give me more time to hone my understanding of various issues. At least I feel I am educating myself during my online time (rants not withstanding)

I know what you mean, but...I simply will not watch it. I don’t feel that I need to support the troops by watching it...I am glad for the men who are highlighted, it will give them a chance to be seen...make a connection with the folks back home, get some recognition and such.
I support the troops each and every day in my discourse with people...when I see someone in uniform, I am sure to greet them and let them know I am grateful for anything they do, whether driving a supply truck between bases in Texas or humping a rock-strewn mountain in Afghanistan.
I get down to Walter Reed when I can to support the DC chapter...I correspond with my legislators and write letters to the editors, although that is admittedly a bit of a masturbatory process here in Massachusetts.
I understand your viewpoint, but...I am not going to watch it. I would like to be surprised, but don’t see how I would be after the last four and a half years of watching those kinds of things and seeing the exact opposite.
If Oliver North is hosting it on Fox...yes, I will watch. Not Brian Ross, and definitely not Vanity Fair. (Yes, the Brian Ross of the “...three-part series on the existence of secret CIA prisons in Eastern Europe where top al Qaeda figures were held...”)
It’s an M-21 (a modified M-14). I have an M-25 very similar (more of a match rifle), but semi-auto.
