TACOMA, Wash. - Immigration protestors marched through downtown Tacoma, stopping traffic and halting downtown bus service Friday.
They're protesting federal immigration policy and the treatment of people at Tacoma's Northwest Detention Center, which holds as many as 1,000 people.
Protestors vowed to shut down the city of Tacoma Friday. They fell short but did get their message across. Many wore bandanas over their faces to hide their identities. The protest had been planned for weeks.
"When the ICE – Immigration Customs Enforcement - can come into our community, rip families apart, put people in jail. Whether or not they have papers, then something is wrong in our country," said Will Munger, protester.
Police arrested four of the protesters for obstruction of justice and assault on an officer. Three men and one woman were taken into custody.
The protest is permitted both Friday and Saturday, and has been successful in tying up traffic so far. The public bus service in the downtown core was temporarily suspended Friday, leaving many passengers stranded.

Nothing happens in downtown Tacoma at least it didn’t when I was stationed at Ft Lewis.
This has to rank with one of the stupidest statements so far.

They should quaranteen the area and require ID for those dear protestors to exit. They should have an ICE bus waiting. IF the citizens get roudy, throw their punk asses in prison for a year or two. That outa just bout fix the problem.

yes, well, I hope the stranded passengers complain loudly and long to the city officials who allowed illegal aliens to riot on the streets of Tacoma, and dont blame innocent American citizens ....

I believe we should give amnesty to these poor CRIMINALS or INVADERS.
This should be a 2 week amnesty to get the heck out of our Country.
The ones who ignore this amnesty should be buried in a tent city jail and fined $10,000 or buried elsewhere.
All aiders and abettors of these CRIMINALS or INVADERS should get 1 year in a tent city jail and a $10,000 fine for each CRIMINAL aided.

Why should I feel sorry for them? They are criminals. Those who steal hurt and split their families. Why should these people be any different?

The illegal invader situation reminds me of the misletoe plant.
It moves in on a beautiful tree (uninvited), and plants its roots right into the tree branch. It disguises itself as part of the ‘mother’ tree, green and lush.
Before long, the misletoe starts spreading with new growth over other branches of the tree, attaching to every branch that it can find.
It is a total parasite. It cannot survive on it’s own. It starts to sap the life out of the ‘mother’ tree, and as its ‘family’ spreads, it begins to sap the life out of its host.
If it is not removed, it will totally destroy it’s food and habitat source.........to move on and find another host.
Good analogy. They remind me of some of my worthless relatives. They come uninvited and won't leave! Then they tell you after supporting them, etc. , how lucky you are to have them around.
You chose to rip your own family apart. So get out and go back to where you came from and put your family back together there. If you are not man enough to change your own country; don’t come whining to ours.
Tacoma and Lakewood passed an ordinance outlawing begging on the intersections and bus stops, cutting off the major source of income to the beggars. The beggars are all addicts or alcoholics and now have no income other than shoplifting and petty theft and stealing from hookers.
The income chain to the Mexican drug dealers is now broken and their "earners" have moved on to Portland and CA.
Next, the Mexicans are losing their jobs in big numbers because of ID crackdowns and can't renew the 90 day exemptions any more.
So the Mexican illegals have lost major sources of income to their hispanic community and are starving and can't afford to even date American girls to try to get them pregnant and earn a green card.
That's the basis for the protests.

Didn’t illegal alien Beltway Sniper John Lee Malvo benefit from the catch and release policy of INS agents based in Tacoma? And weren’t he and co-murderer John Muhammad living in a homeless shelter in Tacoma at the beginning of their cross-country murder spree?
It’s a shame that illegal aliens can exploit our Constitutional right to free speech by protesting in our nation’s streets while wearing masks!

Reminds me of the stupidity I saw on the campus of my town’s university today. Some drama students has a sign and petition along the lines of “TV writers deserve fair pay” and were sharing a table with another guy and his petition sitting underneath a Socialist Workers Party banner.
Illegal aliens are disruptive in so many ways.
It is a shame only five miles of double barrier border fence has been built to date.

If we can declare war on drugs (on our own citizens), why can't we declare war on illegals?
25 American citizens die every day by the hand of illegals, not including the millions that are addicted due to their almost exclusive dealing of hard drugs.
Let's at least declare war on illegals that traffic in hard drugs and who compete with our own marijuana farmers and sellers.

ESPECIALLY GO INTO ALL THEIR HOMES AND BREAK THEM UP SO THEY CAN MEET BACK WHERE THEIR REAL HOME IS.
If someone wants a temporary visa to work, then let them come for a season and NOT bring the whole family so we have to pay $14,000 to educate each of their kids.

They all keep saying how horrid the United States in, but in my opinion:
THEY ALL VOTE WITH THEIR FEET WHEN THEY CHOOSE TO FLEE THEIR COUNTRY TO COME WORK AND TRY AND STAY IN OURS.
Lots of false pride among many of those illegals as well.
They have all this supposed pride in their country and where they are from, but notice they did NOT STAY HOME to build their own paradise, instead they come here to poop in ours.
This must stop.
The first step in solving the problem is to reform our welfare system and make it difficult for anyone who is able bodied to receive assistance. this will put our own citisens who are freeloading into the job pool. this in turn will mean less jobs for the illegals. also if they come here without jobs they wil go hungry and hopefully go home.
