The tranny in my 2000 Pontiac Montana did not even last 90,000 miles. I traded it in as is.
Bought a Nissan.
I’ll never make the mistake of buying GM again.

We have friends who love the Odyssey, but there were a couple of items about it that turned me off. The first one were the historical problems with the transmission. I went on an Edmunds blog and looked at the complaints by Odyssey owners and repeatedly, the transmission seemed to need repair/replacing after about 4 years. I was at the supermarket and saw a lady I knew leaving with her kids and I asker her how she liked the car. She raved about it. Then I asked her if she had any problems and she answered "only one, we are having the transmission replaced- but it is under warantee".
Since we have to drive over a hilly canyon road regularly, even my mechanic liked the Sienna for that reason. I would consider the Honda if I thought they had worked that one thing out, but I am sort of afraid of it. If I did buy one, I would for sure only buy the Honda with an extended warantee to forstall any tranny hassles.

Ooh, a Holiday Family Truckster. Those are rare, lol, especially with the Town ‘n Country woodgrain and lime green combo.

Stylistically, there is no comparison between a Sienna minivan and the GMC Acadia; the Acadia wins running away, imho. That's what caught my eye. It is a very popular car now. Compared to the Sienna it is pricey but I like GM products for safety.
If youre really more in the market for a minivan, and need the sliding doors and the lower floor, Id honestly go for the Honda Odyssey, because its the resale leader as far as minivans go.
I've heard that too. I just don't like their history of transmission problems. I'd only buy it with the extended warantee.

I’ve understood that the transmission problems were more of an issue with the previous generation, and not so much with the current, 08 model. But, this is second hand, so I’m not certain. My next door neighbor bought a new Ody, and loves it. She traded a fullsize Ford Expedition for it.
I can’t say anything bad about my Acadia right now, but I’ve only had it a few months. The only thing to happen so far has been a broken lumbar support, repaired under warranty. That’s not too bad in my experience.

Actually the Fit is by Honda...That could explain why Toyota isn't selling many of them -- and be a commentary on the writer's knowledge of cars. I wonder if GM paid for the story.

unless you dont want american.I was actually about to buy American for the first time in 20 years..... then GM discontinued Oldsmobile.... I was very impressed with the Intrigue (and very un-impressed with the Impala!!)
