Yes, it was the last major Japanese warship built abraod before WWII.
Wow. Just wow.
This was the mantra for decades. You never hear it today.
I always wanted to ask them ..why? To see what they knew of 'guidance and control' engineering.
Most engineers would never say this. Especially aerospace engineers. I never met an aerospace engineer who said "you can't hit a bullet with a bullet".
It was merely a problem to be solved. e.g. Apollo Moon Program.
Amen!
Amen!
One more for the Gipper.
I hope the ability to do this does not let Bush think he cn put off dealing finally with Iran until the next administration. The idea that he will hand it off to Mrs. Clinton or to Obama or the pretty boy is scary.
OUTSTANDING! Two simultaneous kills!
SM-3 = Proven and deployed
SM-2 = Proven and deployed
AEGIS = Proven and deployed
PAC-3 = Proven and deployed
GBI = Proven and deployed
Next up: SM-3 interception from a Japanese destroyer
Coming soon: in-flight interception by our Airborn Laser
Already deployed: ground, air, and oceanic radiation sensors to protect against alternative WMD delivery methods.
Thank you President Bush and President Reagan!
The rats insist that we cannot develop missile defense technology yet we can control climate through massive reductions in greenhouse gases. They insist that we can limit global temperature changes to two degrees Farenheit without any major economic disruptions. Despite demonstrating the viability of missile defense, the rats continue to berate the technology. The rats never question the outrageous claim that climate can be predicted far in the future much less controlled. The rats bitterly complain about the cost of missile defense technology yet gleefully march forward on greenhouse gas reductions without any idea about the costs. The rat Colorado governor even stated this week that he has no estimates on the costs of his ridiculous program to limit greenhouse gas emissions.
Nice to get some good news here!
Thanks for the ping!
None of them are even remotely competent in science or math. They ought to be ignored. This might be said next time they speak up:
It is not a question of being right or wrong, sir; you are not even in the conversation.

I just love that frame at the end; an instant before the “impossible” happens and the KKV hits the missile.
Somewhere buried in my stuff I have a SAWAKAZE zippo. We were their sister ship when they came to the States for missile trials in the mid-80s.
Is there a Navy ping list? If so, can I be added please?
