This is the system that the Clintons tryed to stop for eight years. And will kill (and sell the data, designs, and tooling to the Chinese) should the Hildabeast! be elected.

In certain situations, striking first is always the best ploy. Specifically, Iran.
Should we decide NOT to hit them (I find this incomprehensible at this point in time) we will be hit first.
Russia for the most part has proven they will not launch a nuclear strike first — UNLESS there is a good reason to do so, like cleaning up a situation that we’ve found ourselves.
China on the other hand, is well known to be planning to attack the United States in the future, whether by nuclear weapons or sea/air attacks, it’s not clear, but certainly the ability to defend ourselves against ICBMs is the best possible thing we can have at this time.

Wasn’t there a Japanese battleship of heavy cruiser by the same name in WW2?

...the USS Lake Erie's crew fired two SM-3 missiles, and two minutes later they successfully intercepted the targets outside the earth's atmosphere more than 100 miles above the Pacific Ocean.... Wow. That's fast.

Many of my Democrat acquaintances told me for years that “hitting a bullet with a bullet” was simply impossible.
What a bunch of cynics.
It is far better to have this technology and not need it, than not to have it and need it. But we do need it.
Democrats on defense, for the most part, are children. They think raising taxes and cutting defense spending will far better protect America.
What sense does it make to ignore history, and then continue to fund programs that make virtually no difference to the country - except that they increase waste, make more people dependent upon government and smash hope.

Last action seen at Leyte Gulf?
I think this ship was British built for the Japanese Navy.

Best summary of the Dem policy planks that I have seen in years.
