POLS FEAR VOTING FRAUD IN SPITZER'S LICENSE PLAN
NY Post ^ | October 22, 2007 | KENNETH LOVETT

ALBANY - State election officials are worried that Gov. Spitzer's plan to allow illegal aliens to obtain driver's licenses will make it difficult for them to catch people voting illegally. "There has been concern," state Board of Elections spokesman Lee Daghlian told The Post.

While it is up to the local boards of election to determine who is eligible to vote, it is rare that election officials check into a person's legal status, particularly if they have identifying information on their voter-registration form like a driver's license or the last four digits of a Social Security number, Daghlian said.

In order to register, a person must sign an affidavit stating that they are an American citizen.

"You assume that people don't lie, and that's what the form says," Daghlian said. "It's an affidavit you sign under penalty of perjury."

But Daghlian concedes, "Nobody checks it" to determine its validity.

At the polls, voters are asked to show some form of photo ID, like a driver's license, to prove their identity, Daghlian said.

"I suppose it would be [tough to catch] if someone wanted to take advantage of the system and try to get a number of people registered who aren't citizens and went ahead and got them driver's licenses," he said.

Spitzer last month announced that beginning in December, the state will allow illegal aliens to obtain driver's licenses by no longer requiring that applicants provide Social Security numbers or letters that a person is not eligible for such a number.

Critics of the plan expressed concerns about homeland security and said it would make New York ripe for voter fraud.

That criticism grew louder after The Post reported Saturday that the Spitzer administration reversed a policy that would have prohibited the Department of Motor Vehicles from handing out motor-voter...

The whole PURPOSE of Spitzer’s plan for illegals to get driver’s licenses is so that they can be registered to vote in 2008. And I would guess that Hillary Clinton is a part of that “plan”.

Her negatives are so high, she can’t be elected by the citizenry.

May contribute to voter fraud?
No kidding.
What else could be influencing the Spitzer’s decision other than Motor Voter?
This is the third or fourth major thing Spitzer has had to backtrack on since he was innaugurate.
Spitzer has shown himself to be rather impotent in state politics.

This is why Hillary couldn't answer the question during the debate. She needs as much voter fraud as possible to offset her un-electability. Otherwise....PAGING CAPTAIN OBVIOUS!

I knew they were scared of Rudy Giuliani but I had no idea they were *that* scared. Watch for them to try something similar in PA. If polls are correct, Rudy will carry it, and that would be game over for the Socialists.

I'm looking forward to joining my red state brothers and sisters :^)

Well, if its between her and Guliani then the illegals might be needed to tip the balance for NY state. Against anyone else, she will almost certainly carry NY. That being said, encouraging illegals to vote is what is motivating Spitzer here.

The over-riding purpose of “motor voter” was to allow ineligibles to vote. That’s why it was so avidly pursued by The Bent One’s administration.

Actually, having illegal foreigners vote for democrats is one of the chief reasons for the amnesty bill attempt, the democrat-ruled sanctuary cities and the push to give illegals drivers’ licenses. The democrats , whose biggest fund raiser is the foreigner Soros, have become an anti-national party. In today’s NYTIMES,Obama tells of his presidential plans to grovel before the UN while claiming foreigners will love Obama’s America because of his many foreign relatives. Scary.

Yup, that`s THE plan:

The National Voter Registration Act Of 1993
Section 5 of the Act requires states to provide individuals with the opportunity to register to vote at the same time that they apply for a driver’s license or seek to renew a driver’s license, and requires the State to forward the completed application to the appropriate state of local election official.

http://www.usdoj.gov/crt/voting/nvra/activ_nvra.htm

” Today we celebrate our noble tradition by signing into law our newest civil rights law, the National Voter Registration Act of 1993, which all of us know and love as “motor voter.”...

I’m honored to share this podium with representatives with three fighters for freedom: the NAACP, the League of Women Voters, and Human Serve. I want to pay special tribute to Disabled and Able To Vote, to Project Vote, and to Rock the Vote...

With this law and its appropriate implementation by States, voters can register by applying for a driver’s license...

As I said, I have long supported the idea of motor voter. More than a year ago, I promised as President that I would sign H.R. 2 and fight for its passage. I’m pleased to be able to keep the promise today that I made on this Rock the Vote card which still has my signature back in New Hampshire...”

William J. Clinton

Remarks on Signing the National Voter Registration Act of 1993

This doesn’t make sense to me. It’s highly unlikely NY would vote Republican in 2008 regardless of an “illegal aliens with drivers licenses” vote. So why risk passing a license plan that gives the perception you described? I think Spitzer wants to pass this plan because Spitzer wants to pass this plan.

Dunno.

I think there are also privacy laws that disallow

cross-checking when someone presents a license to vote.

I am baffled by how this plan blew up in their faces. These liberals don’t squat without taking a poll. What happened?

That is the real big scheme of LO$ER Spitzer. There is no other way he can win a second term or any other election. So, he is trying to cook up some phantom voters.

I have always been disgusted by this slime ball, and now I am downright furious. Hope and pray that he will pay a huge price soon, and be embarrassed out of office soon.

Sorry, living in CA, I only dread his national ambitions. Don’t follow NY politics too closely.

Insights appreciated.

Maybe they didn't bother with a poll? Remember, Eliot's a f'n steamrolloer. The neoCOMs are just being themselves. They have overplayed their hand consistently since the results of a year ago.

Yes, yes, I totally agree about Eliot, but the Clintons do NOT suffer fools and he just made a fool out of her, he can't be that dumb even on a steamroller. This illegal issue was to NEVER EVER land on a liberals plate and these nitwits made it international news. Almost a miracle given how flawless this Clinton campaign has gone to-date.

IMO, the big problem is not going to be a third party candidate, but massive voter fraud. The 50 State Strategy is roaring along. All the aggrieved (disenfranchised) are in place, the lawyers are on retainer and the judges have been chosen. Haven’t heard anything from the GOP to combat this. Again, IMO, ‘08 is going to be a blood bath.

Vote fraud is theft of government.

by a citizen => treason
by an illegal => espionage
