Dusk for the Sundance Kid .... (Dissent is fine. Dishonest propaganda is not)
JWR ^ | Oct. 29, 2007 | Bill O'Reilly

Posted on 10/29/2007 7:42:09 AM PDT by IrishMike

Reese Witherspoon can't be pleased with the performance of her new movie "Rendition." It is a colossal bomb and will disappear as quickly as one of the movie's characters, courtesy of the evil CIA, of course.

Once again, Hollywood is on a "let's make America look bad" binge. This is directly caused by loathing for the Bush administration, which the entertainment left sees as a combination of the Third Reich and Emperor Nero. Thus, a series of earnest "America is a human-rights violator" films are coming to a theater near you, and the odds are you will ignore them. Good.

The Sundance Kid, Robert Redford, has directed a movie called "Lions for Lambs," of which Variety opines: "Back-bendingly liberal but also deeply patriotic."

Well, that doesn't sound so bad, but then Redford goes to Rome and says this about the USA: "We have lost lives, we've lost sacred freedoms, we've lost financial stability."

Really, Bob? You seem mighty rich to me, and I believe you can make movies that say anything you want them to say. So what's this loss of "sacred freedoms" deal?

While researching this column, I came across a letter written by Samuel Goldwyn in 1961. Goldwyn was a major movie mogul responsible for hundreds of classic films. In this letter Goldwyn tells producer Jerry Wald: "Today we are at a crucial period in history. Even if the cold war never develops into a hot one, our country still has its hands full all over the world. The pictures we send abroad have an effect in every corner of the globe.

I suppose Robert Redford also goes to his neighbors’ houses and trash-talks his own family. What a shameless, disloyal, self-promoting, self-righteous POS.

I'd love to see a table that lists major movies by their political leanings, and how well they do at the box office.

Passion of the Christ vs Lions for Lambs

It just seems like the extreme leftwing movies rarely make a lot of money. But the bigwigs keep making more of them. Meanwhile, the Values movies tend to rake in big bucks. but the bigwigs seem disinclined to make too many of them.

Most businesses are driven by profit. But I maintain that the Entertainment business and the News business are driven by other considerations.

Its telling Redford makes these comments overseas, where in another time they wouldn’t have been made know to the average American movie goer.

The fact is Redford is both a coward, and a rank hypocrite.

Hollyweird's Frankenstein monsters like Redford et al will say & do whatever their handlers tell them to do, nothing new here.
The himbo-bimbo actors were hand picked by himbos & bimbos because they didn't have an original thought in their empty heads so SOS.

Good news here is?
The Frankenstein monsters are pissing away their money *&* in giant amounts at a crack, which is of course good for the economy getting that dough back in circulation.

Soon we'll all be hearing another tale of woe from Hollyweird's imps.

One fine day, one by one they'll wakeup.

...& learn they're broke. ;^)

Who doesn’t remember those great block buster movies like “Mission to Moscow and North Star”. What we need are some more John Ford movies. Hollyweird supports our troops by making them look like the villians. You know had things been different and Gore was President, this would have been a real patriotic war. BTW, I’m waiting for Hollyweird’s “Spring time for the Mullahs in Iran”

Even as a kid I never could figure out what was so great about Robert Redford. Maybe the chicks thought he was handsome back about forty years ago. But I can't think of a single one of his movies that was particularly good. I guess Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid is okay, but I've never understood why that film is considered to be one of the all-time classics. It starts off with Redford & Newman pulling off some lame robberies. Then they run from a posse for what seems like forever. Then Redford rides Katherine Ross around on a bicycle while the jazzy "Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head" song, which is totally out of place in a western, blares out. Then they go to Bolivia and plot another robbery.

I wouldn't say it's a bad film, but as a western it's just average. Nothing like the top tier films of John Wayne, Jimmy Stewart, or Clint Eastwood in that genre. The rest of Redford's films are mostly lame. Does he have any real screen presence or charisma, or did he have it forty years ago? I never noticed it. I didn't sit up and pay attention whenever he spoke.

What sad world does Redford live in? He must have tons of money but he is unhappy because we live in an America where there is no prosperity, where countless millions wail and starve, where gestapos come in the night and throw dissenters into concentration camps, etc etc. They really seem to think that is the way things are. Makes me wonder when the morons say “we’ve lost our credibility in the world” if it isn’t because of this fictional America they talk about. It certainly isn’t because of Bush.

Only a liberal rag like Variety could call “Lions For Lambs”, “Back-bendingly liberal but also deeply patriotic.” In the trailer (the advertisement) Redfords character says, ‘It isn’t the ones that attacked us that are the problem! We are!’ That pretty much says it all. Besides anyone who sees Redford in anything knows what the point of view will be.

There was a moment at the end when it sunk into somewhat of a weak message, but overall it was very anti-terror.

Got forced by the masses to see this tripe this weekend, and the only things it DIDN'T do was:

1) Refer to the torturing location as Abu-Graib, and
2) Play the "Darth Vader Theme" whenever Meryl Stink entered the room.

Other than that, the movie was so left of center even the DBM reviewers noticed it. And there were more goofs, flubs and continuity holes than an Ed Wood film. Poorly written, poorly directed, poorly acted, a mega-bomb.
