The Great One’s Didn’t Go To Harvard & Yale (Lincoln, Truman, LBJ, Reagan and Fred)
American Chronicle ^ | October 26, 2007 | Ken Hughes

Posted on 10/27/2007 2:18:50 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

This morning I received an e-mail from a crusty lady in Sheridan Wyoming who happens to be a Fred Thompson supporter. This lady has e-mailed me before adding a little to each of my articles supporting Fred Thompson. Charlotte isn’t the only one who tells me they are behind Fred Thompson 100%. I would have used the popular Democratic statistic of 110% except like so many things Democratic 110% doesn’t exist. Democrats are always trying to convince the voters they can go several steps beyond what’s physically possible. Every time Hillary opens her mouth she goes 110% beyond reality, she’s always somewhere between 110% wrong and 110% pure bull manure. That’s her position and you dam well better believe she’s going to change it, again and again and again.

Looking back it’s occurred to me the truly great president didn’t attend Harvard or Yale, men like Ale Lincoln, Harry Truman, Lyndon Johnson and Ronald Reagan all went to Goat Roper Normal, the little teachers collage down the dusty road a few miles from where they called home, if they went at all. These men did more to eliminate human suffering and starvation than all the presidents that came before or after them.

All the Charlottes of all the Sheridan Wyoming’s will elect the next president of this country not the Harvard and Yale alumni, not the Brit Hume’s and Wolf Blitzes or the rest of the media pundits, not even the internet bloggers. This is something Fred Thompson is well aware of, Fred knows it’s not about the money he collects and spends, it’s not about the empty promises and it sure as hell isn’t about kissing babies and old ladies, it’s about honesty and believability. It’s about saying the same thing to every one and not having a separate speech for the different audiences.

Candidates and the media make a big thing out of the money each candidate collects each quarter. That money goes to buy television and radio commercials, to rent buses and private jets to travel around influencing party delegates. No one is offering Charlotte one penny for her vote, not that she’d consider taking it. The money isn’t buying votes its influencing state party delegates, a process that’s frequently interesting and often amusing it’s never the less meaningless come November when the voters make their marks.

Fred Thompson is politically astute enough to understand how politicians think he’s smart enough to know if he wants to win the presidential election he has to run smarter than the rest of the rabbits in the race. If we equate Fred Thompson’s [Stratigery] as similar to the old parable of the Tortes and the Hair we can see how Fred Thompson intends to win, He’s steadily plodding down the path to the Whitehouse while the other candidates are off the path sampling and chasing carrots in other greener gardens.

Charlotte from Sheridan Wyoming and all the Charlottes from all the Sheridan’s in America are looking for a president and a congress who will let them keep more of their hard earned money and the jobs they work so hard at. They see no benefit in providing health care for people or their children who are as capable as Charlotte of providing their own health care. The Charlottes are compassionate people they aren’t stupid people, they know each must proved for themselves and when government assumes that responsibility it put a heavy burdon on a few and encourages many to kick back and take advantage. All the Charlottes are beginning to see what Liberalism is costing them and if allowed to continue what it’s going to cost them and their descendants in years to come.

In advance of Democrats winning total control of the government in the coming 2008 elections they are already proposing vast tax increases with no mention of what the money will be used for. This is not how democracy is spelled. Congress and the president are the servants of the people not their masters, this is an attitude by the Washingtonians that needs changing and the only way is through the ballot box.

Fred Thompson is as near to being one of the people as we’re going to get in the coming election. If we are to get back to a government of the people we need to elect Fred Thompson President.

Footnote:…… Charlotte’s a real person, Sheridan Wyoming is a real place. Both are about as American as anyone or anything can get. Charlotte’s worried about her beloved America and the socialist path it’s being forced down….. She’s crying out for your help.

Yes, I know that Mr. Hughes will probably not wind up with the next Pullitzer prize. Having said that, he's right...

Any list of great presidents that includes LBJ is immediately suspect. At best.

“Mr. Hughes will probably not wind up with the next Pullitzer prize.”

Putting the stray apostrophe in the title was the first clue.

Some in the hinterlands still respect JFK and LBJ for their “looking out for the little guy” and “war on poverty” and all that. It’s hard to dissuade that generation of the notion.

If Ken Hughes thinks that Lyndon Johnson was a great president he needs a CAT scan to find out what the hell happened to his brain.

The Democrats must be scared to death of Fred. They are now beginning to question his intelligence!

Its funny to hear Liberals quote Nixon, questioning Fred's intelligence.

Get ready for 8 years of Liberals mocking Fred, just as they did with Reagan and Bush.

Fred Thompson, who supported McCain-Feingold is your standard “front runner” who will ...

1) increase the national debt
2) leave the border open
3) do nothing to immediately save the unborn from abortion

Look at my tagline ...

Wyoming has 3 electoral votes. California has like 5 dozen. Whoever wants to win better pick up a lot of votes somewhere, since California and NY are not in play. The votes are not in rural places with good hardworking farmers and ranchers, as much as we like those folks. They are in the South and in the suburbs of the midwest and mountain west. Sheridan’s nice, but Fred can take them for granted, and better work on Ohio, Missouri and Colorado, and work to pick off Wisconsin, Minnesota, New Mexico and Pennsylvania if he wants to have a chance.

The problem with perpetuating emails, and the primary reason they are supposed to be posted only in Chat, is that many are bogus. E Pluribus Unum and In God We Trust are both inscribed on the edge of the new Presidential coins.

Lyndon Johnson a great president? No way! Theodore Roosevelt, who was arguably great, graduated magna cum laude from Harvard. Our brilliant Chief Justice John Roberts is also a high-honors Harvard grad. Fred Thompson may possibly turn out to be a great President, but it won’t be because he’s a humble homespun man of the people.

*SIGH* I remember seeing this already. Barring any new, previously unrevealed, evidence this is the bottom line: the Philadelphia mint pounded out a number of these dollars with a bad mold/stamp/whatever the heck it is they use now. The correct coins DO bear the words "In God We Trust" inscribed on the edges and I, at least, have seen several of these coins, all with the inscription. If you have some evidence that there is a NEW coin that does this, I'm all ears, otherwise this is just an old urban legend.

My reaction as well...stopped reading right there at LBJ, and skipped down to commentary.

Amen. It's amazing how often otherwise conservatives will bow to the mainstream media and acknowledge the "greatness" of presidents who led this country in very much the wrong direction. Kennedy is another one that tends to get this treatment. It reminds me of many Republicans pre (and, in some cases, post) Swift Boat Vets falling all over each other to proclaim the glory of Kerry's service.

Right now “W” is not listed as a great, but I think history will put him there.

I doubt it, for two reasons. First, he really has been a ho-hum president. The one and only thing that he has fought for in these seven years is the war in Iraq--something that he has barely fought for since (allowing the Democrats to run roughshod all over him and then using it to run roughshod over any Republican that helped him) and has been rather tepid in fighting (can we ditch Petraeus yet and start fighting for real?).

The second reason is, by far, the greatest: a bunch of filthy commies are going to write the history books for the next generation. These Commies will bear the mantle as those who declared McCarthy's hearings to be a gulag, Kennedy to be a saint and Reagan to be a fool. Facts won't matter. The next generation of history books will say that Bush was an evil fool who wiretapped innocent Indiana elementary school teachers without a warrant, butchered innocent civilians in Iraq (which, the children will be told, was all about stealing oil from those kind, peaceful Iraqis), starved grandma (by not adding a few billion more than he did to the federal deficit), and caused hurricanes and wildfires, damning the whole world to a fiery death via global warming. Absurd? So is the legend of the hard-nosed Kennedy who stared down the Cubans--but we're not supposed to know that.

When we are given a say, absolutely.

Jesus was attacked by the government and opposed it, he believed in changing the hearts of man, not telling government to do something.

A memory of an incident involving whips in the temple courts is coming to me...

Is it really Fred or any Presidents job? Or is is yours?

It is every president's job. If you read Kings and Chronicles there was praise and condemnation in turn for kings, varying on how they led their countries--from a spiritual standpoint.

But only from the church that would given the opportunity be in charge. It is why we need a separation of church and state It is the responsibility of men to change other mens hearts to reflect a common belief, not for man to give away his right, power and responsibility to a government.
