A Ban on Ron Paul Supporters
The New York Times ^ | October 24, 2007 | Kate Phillips

Posted on 10/24/2007 2:12:35 PM PDT by Baladas

The right-leaning side of the blogosphere, and especially some of the leading Repub-blogs, have been ablaze over the decision by RedState.com to bar comments and diaries from those enthusiastically Web-savvy and driven backers of Representative Ron Paul.

To recap first of all, Leon Wolfe over at RedState, under a headline that included “Life Is Really Not Fair,” wrote on Monday:

Effective immediately, new users may *not* shill for Ron Paul in any way shape, form or fashion. Not in comments, not in diaries, nada. If your account is less than 6 months old, you can talk about something else, you can participate in the other threads and be your zany libertarian self all you want, but you cannot pimp Ron Paul. Those with accounts more than six months old may proceed as normal.

Now, I could offer a long-winded explanation for *why* this new policy is being instituted, but I’m guessing that most of you can probably guess. Unless you lack the self-awareness to understand just how annoying, time-consuming, and bandwidth-wasting responding to the same idiotic arguments from a bunch of liberals pretending to be Republicans can be. Which, judging by your comment history, you really don’t understand, so allow me to offer an alternate explanation: we are a bunch of fascists and we’re upset that you’ve discovered where we keep the black helicopters, so we’re silencing you in an attempt to keep you from warning the rest of your brethren so we can round you all up and send you to re-education camps all at once.

Well, I think it got to the point when Paul's spammers weren't even entertaining anymore. The internet is virtually unregulated, which means there's no "right of free speech", either. I myself have been called a "neocon" probably 100 times this month - Ron Paul's people REALLY need to get a new party.

The problem is that many of Ron Paul’s supporters have no real intent to vote for him beyond keeping him in the race long enough to pull the D lever.

RedState didn’t ban Ron Paul supporters. They banned trolls joining up, praising the virtues of Ron paul’s Holy message, attacking all who didn’t agree, and refused to engage in conversation beyond ron paul. they also allowed that should say, after one month, a Ron Paul supporter show an ability to engage the commnity in talk NOT concerning Ron Paul they’d consider allowing them to speak of Ron Paul. As the more veteran posters are allowed to do.

as for our esteemed conservative bloggers out there...Pfft. these are the same people that denounced Polipundit for removing contributors that were in rebellion against the administrator’s rules and were sympatehtic to allowing the President to push amnesty. these are the same people that ripped FreeRepublic for daring to enforce the Guidelines which state this is a conservative forum. Not a free for all debating society. And now they attack redState for not wanting to deal with Trolls, many of whom have questionable ties to the right.

The internet is the quickest medium for the people to transmit unclassified data, and as such should never be regulated.

Now, if only FR would do the same, we’d save lots of bandwith and aggravation.

I hope he runs third party and takes the loony truther voters away from the rats. Paul threads on FR are way too common but sometimes it is fun to vent on them.

I am not a Republican. I have not voted for a Democrat statewide or Nationally in a quite a few years. I have never voted to my knowledge for a Libertarian. But you can darn well rest assured I can vote Democrat or Libertarian and if you dedicated die hard Republicans wish I will vote damn Democrat and help them all I can even though I would rather stay home and you can bet there are a lot of others like me. You all are starting to sound like Democrats and there has been no difference in Congress between the two parties for some time.

"really need to get a new Party."

Why? The Republicans sure aren't using theirs.

You know, you sound just like Ron Paul did in this interview back in 1988:

The “no difference between the two” comment(s), for one.

Ron Paul neophytes are like folks who’ve recently quit smoking. Annoying, self-righteous and preachy.

Rudy is my next-to-last choice for nomination, but you really need to find a better way to support Ron Paul than calling Rudy supporters silly names. That’s not getting anything done for you or Dr. Paul, and I doubt it will change any minds. I urge you to try positive support for your candidate, rather than slinging childish names at others. Of course, maybe you don’t care about the campaign, you just like to be a troll.

Dr. Paul is my last choice for nomination, but I resolve to just refer to his supporters as mistaken and misguided. See how much nicer that is?

You guys rock. I will have to send next months HBO fee to FR instead. It is worth it, because RP threads are much more fun than the 20th rerun of a stupid movie..

Ok that explains it.

I'll just keep chewing them up then.
