Respect The Mission

Heroism: Rep. Pete Stark has apologized for his invective against President Bush and the U.S. military. For this, he deserves credit. But if he'd stop politicizing the war, he wouldn't make such mistakes in the first place.

Stark is the San Francisco Democrat who berated congressional foes last week for spending to "blow up innocent people if we can get enough kids to grow old enough for you to send to Iraq to get their heads blown off for the president's amusement."

The repugnant remark rightly triggered public outrage. But it wasn't outrageous enough to merit a rebuke by Stark's colleagues. On Tuesday, by a strict party-line vote — 196 Democrats vs. 173 Republicans — the House refused to censure him.

Stark nevertheless expressed his regrets later. "With this apology I will become as insignificant as I should be, and we can return to the issues that do divide us but that we can resolve."

This, we suppose, was better than nothing. But Stark's final interest in returning to politics as usual unwittingly confirmed the political prism through which he views the military and what it fights for. For Stark, it's still all about politics, and George Bush.

The war on terror, however, isn't about politics. It's about ensuring that another 9/11 never happens again, no matter who is commander in chief.

“For this, he deserves credit.”

I disagree. He spoke his heart and said what he believes to be true. He’s a disgrace and an enemy sympathizer.

He backed up because his boss lady told him to. The man is not only a liar and black propagandist, but a spineless piece of filth as well.

What is outrageous is that the majority of the left did not even call for his censure

The majority of the left heartily agreed with his initial statements.

We’d gain a lot of ground if folk would just quit pretending that there is anything of honor or integrity remaining to the left.

This guy deserves no credit for that half-assed apology at all.

He also needs to apologize to all the Military personnel he insulted.
Like all Democrat cowards, he thinks anyone in the armed forces is a stupid immature little kid that hasn't a clue what they are doing.

Most if not all are far more educated and specialized than he is. All this idiot knows and studied is politics, how to lie, cheat, steal and bribe his way into political power and the reward for the effort- access to the public purse so he can enrich himself and his close friends.
