Matthews Dredges Up Old Bush Lines to Offset Stark
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 10/19/2007 3:54:01 PM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest

A few days after 9-11, President Bush, in an impromptu moment on the White House lawn, referred to the war on terrorism as a crusade. What does that have to do with the vile claim Rep. Pete Stark (D-Calif.) made this week that Pres. Bush sends our soldiers to Iraq to have their heads blown off for his "amusement"?

Nothing that I can see. But on this afternoon's "Hardball," Chris Matthews dredged up that and a couple other statements from the president's past and staged a segment asking whether they were worse than Stark's line. Note the graphic in the screencap, in which MSNBC absurdly asks "who should apologize, Rep. Stark or Pres. Bush?"

it’s a shame that the only time Matthews was bitch slapped on tv was by a democrat not a republican.

There ain’t but about 7 or 8 men in congress with balls and 2 probally have breasts as well.

In to debate this contrived comparison were Air America host Stephanie Miller...

It couldn’t be that Ed Schultz was unavailable because he was too successful.

Kevin Miller was a morning host in my market for awhile. He’s kind of a weenie. Though the linked video had no comment from him, I’m guessing he wasn’t there for a “full throated defense of conservatism”.

The left’s derangement is starting to get dangerous.

Chris Matthews must have some naked pictures of someone to still be on the air for MSNBC.

It is very evident he has some sort of derangement problem, maybe early dementia.

He has in the last 4 years gotten so bad, I don't even watch him for entertainment sake

At one time he was a very bright articulate, though mildly partisan journalist. Today he is a sick man, that needs help.

In fairness, Kevin made a very energetic defense of the president. He did fine.

That’s all he has? Bush said nothing wrong. Stark should be called on to resign.

Moral equivalency once again rears its illogical head.

The POTUS identifies nations that are a threat to all that freedom loving people hold dear, and tells terrorists that we will not cower from their threats and assaults, and it’s equated with a member of the legislative branch of the U.S. Gov’t accusing the POTUS of killing American kids for his amusement and enjoyment.

Mindboggling, but no longer surprising.

The RATS are beside themselves because they can’t get the public’s attention focused on the prez and anything they can dredge up in their own small minds. The public is too busy eyeballing the ridiculousness of Dingy Reid and Puce Pelosi not being able to organized an override of the president to consolidate their power in the eyes of the public. This latest by Stark is so low and for the likes of that dweeb Chris Mattastink to help play a part in this disgusting trick is stupid at the very least. Damn! Matthews is another Dan Blather. Hope he gets brought down like Blather.

At a political function my wife told Chrissys brother Jim that Chris was a jerk. I scolded her after the event and now, even though it was two years ago, I have to wake her up and apologize. This isn't going to be fun.

Interesting, I think..... Pete Stark reliably makes an ass of himself with an over the top, totally outrageous insult of President Bush, just in time to take all attention away from Rush Limbaugh’s triumpth over Harry Reid. How convenient is that?

Stark’s constiuents, (like Stephanie Miller’s listeners), were guaranteed to love Stark’s despicable words, even more delivered from the House floor. For Pete Stark, there was no political risk in saying such a thing about President Bush, he was the perfect tool.

btw, was there any mention on any of the evening news shows of Rush?

I remembered how our pseudo-allies “cringed” when Bush used the word “crusade” to describe his intent to go after our enemies. But Chris had to dig way, way back to find it.

http://www.csmonitor.com/2001/0919/p12s2-woeu.html

Laughable, downright laughable for Chris Matthews to try and equate Bush’s use of the word “crusade” with what Stark said.

Chris Matthews?

More like spittleball.

If I found myself in the presence of this doooouche, I'd wear a face mask to keep from getting spit on while Chrissy talked.
