Bride sues over flower color

NEW YORK (AP) -- The wedding was lovely, except for the flowers: They were the wrong color.

So says the bride, Elana Glatt, who was so upset that she sued the florist and alleged breach of contract.

She says Posy Floral Design in Manhattan substituted pastel pink and green hydrangeas for the dark rust and green ones she had specified for 22 centerpieces.

Not only that, she alleges that the hydrangeas were wilted and brown, and arranged in dusty vases without enough water.

Men and women are dying in Iraq, and people are suing over wilted flowers.

Words fail.

If I spent $27k on flowers and then was ignored repeatedly, I’d sue too. Both the florist and the bride were stupid.

Anyone who spend $27,000+ for wedding flowers has issues.

She’s a lawyer so the best line of the story.....”My father used to tell me, ‘Don’t deal with the lawyers,” Arakas said. “Maybe he was right, God bless his soul

$27,000.00 for flowers? Words fail me. Brown and wilted flowers in dusty vases? At a wedding? I would have been royally po’d, too.

Huh. The flower arrangements on a friend’s chuppah disintegrated and it never occurred to her to sue. Me either, or I would have claimed some kind of injury from falling roses and gotten a piece of the action. ANOTHER opportunity to win the lawsuit lottery lost.

I followed your linky, read the article, and couldn't resist adding the florist's commentary.

27k for flowers...yep there are 'two Americas.'

There is NO solution to the modern Bride. They “dream of this day since childhood” and if everything isn’t perfect, they go “Psychotrimonial” (Psychotic and Matrimonial)

And her husband is probably embarrassed as can be.

I landed on that show surfing one night and could not look away. The sheer arrogance displayed by this one girl was amazing. Ugly, fat girl being married at the local community center and she expected Princess Di’s accoutrements. Wow.

If I was the florist I would note that the contract has neither color samples nor specific color wheel codes and that variation occurs in nature. Sort of like the bride’s hair midlength versus the roots. MEOW.

I wonder if this sends chills up her new hubby’s spine. It would def alarm the hell out of me. Of course, I don’t really attract the sort of women who would spend 25k on flowers, which is a good thing ;)

Anyone who spends $27,000 on flowers has issues IMO.

Detached from reality.

Since her husband’s parents joined her in the suit, I doubt he’s embarassed at all.

Supposedly those who have alot of money are the “smart money”. But I find it inconceivable that anyone who would spend $27,000 is in any way smart with money.....more likely, lucky.

Having just been married, I can say that the flowers are SUCH a racket. Regardless, I’m not going to tell her how to spend her money. She spent it with certain expectations. Both the florist and the bride were stupid for not having a written contract.

And the florist was REALLY dumb to ignore the repeated emails and requests for a refund of the centerpieces. Now instead of reimbursing $4k and having the whole affair be quiet, now he’s hit with a huge lawsuit and loss of reputation. The man’s an idiot.

I'm quite stunned by this whole wedding mania. What happened to that women's movement that supposedly started in the 70's? Some really haven't come a long way, baby. Yet it's been 30 years... where's the progress? The only change I see nowadays is that more and more young people feel they are entitled to this type of grotesque wedding ceremony. (By the way, I have to attend one this weekend.)
