Welcome to the weekly Nascar at FR thread! This week - the Subway 500 on October 21 and Craftsman Truck Kroger 200 on October 20. The Busch Series is off this week-end.
This Week - Race #6 in the Chase for the Cup
The Subway 500 at Martinsville Speedway

Nextel Cup Subway 500 - 10/21/2007 - ABC Sun. 1pm ET /~/ Qualifying - Speed - 10/19/2007 3:30pm ET
Craftsman Truck Kroger 200 - 10/20/2007 - Speed Sat. 3pm ET /~/ Qualifying 10/20/2007 11am ET
Busch Series is off this week-end.
Martinsville Speedway ran its first NASCAR race on July 4, 1948. In 1949, Martinsville ran the sixth race in the series that eventually became the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series.
Martinsville Speedway opened in 1947 with 750 seats and has grown continuously over the years. But, other than being paved in 1955, the track configuration has not changed since Red Byron won the inaugural event.
Martinsville Speedway, located three miles south of Martinsville, Va., is the only original NASCAR-sanctioned track still running NEXTEL Cup events.
Richard Petty, now a car owner, remains the track's leading winner with 15 victories.

A BumP is a Bump!
Congre$$folk shur know how to step in it, ..lol ;-)
Martinsville race thread is up,, 5 races to go... PinG!!!
Has ANYONE apologized for that outrage yet?
Think the Dummicrats have basically given up on getting that NASCAR Dad (and Mom) vote yet?
I fully expect an invasion next spring around the Sprint Cup circuit by the dems, they are absolutely loony most of the time and unsufferable the rest .. lol

Of course apologies for such silliness works for Dims but not for Republicans.

Oh, my Martinsville home
Petty Enterprises and Martinsville Speedway go hand in hand.
The team has had the most success there and hopes to
rekindle hints of that past.
Thanks for da ping, Norm!
First?
LOLOL.. Thanks!
R U kidding, folks are agitated over the ‘shots’ thing. it wasn’t even out of the can yet and WHAP!
But
Nice Try!!!
LOL. The only shots I have before watching a race were aged in oak for 12 years :o)
Kentucky Kopper Kettle juice .. mmmmmmm
Next week: Atlanta Motor Speedway!
Or a nice cluster at ten or twenty yards.
That is a beautiful thing! Hope you don’t mind if I steal it...

How much play is the “redneck vaccination” getting in Nascar circles? Anyone belong to the big boards about Nascar?

not me.
probably won’t hit most folks ‘til they vote, it’s a good chuckle tho.

That would be my racing team’s mascot there.
$65,100.00
I think many folks in the NASCAR community have given up on them. According to Bill Krueger of the Raleigh News & Observer (as reprinted on the ThatsRacin.com site, Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, Casey Mears and Rick Hendrick all contributed $2,300 (max allowed) to Rudy Guiliani's presidential campaign in the last quarter. Plenty of others in the NASCAR community also contribute to Republicans.
Thanks for that tidbit...
Discovery Channel is about to start a new mini-series on Everest. Wonder if this guy will be one it?
I need to hire a proof reader. That be Mt. Everest not My Everest...:(
You're welcome.
I just figured you were claiming the mountain!
Everything is for sale for the right price. ;)
$65,100 and 3 days to go...
On a roll! As I think I need to be, BBL.
Jarrett to Replace Ousted Wallace in Booth

Guess what, fans? ESPN really does listen to us! Or ... maybe they just listen to their own broadcasts and realize how painful they are all on their own.
Rusty Wallace is out! Out I say! Done deal. My source actually used the word “fired!”
I’ll tell ya what ... I don’t care if he was fired, quit or otherwise. I’d just like to wish him good riddance. One Answer this... reader suggests that ESPN will shift Wallace back to the IRL booth. Good for him—they can have him.

I guess the draft lock and calamity corner got him if this is true.
Another one...
Wallace has been struggling on the air, and his Charlotte comments about Jeff Gordon really rubbed some ABC executives the wrong way. On the Busch side, Rusty has been stepping aside from running his son Steven’s team to do the telecasts, and often expressed frustration with some of the incidents and decisions made in his absence.

Danny "Chocolate" Myers (aka Gasman Choc) is one of the most popular crew members in the world of stock car racing. Chocolate was the famed gas man for the #3 GM Goodwrench Chevy driven by Dale Earnhardt. For the past 18 years Chocolate and team owner Richard Childress have visited victory lane no less than 83 times. You've also seen Chocolate Myers color-commentating on ESPN2, appearing in countless television commercials, as well as acting in movies, such as the "Smokey and the Bandit" series.
Now, if they will just show more of the race.
