There is no doubt that this b@stard should hang: it is the right thing to do, and the courts in Iraq agree.
But I think surrounding the event with levity and mirth robs it of the solemnity it deserves, and thus some of the majesty. Justice is about to be meted out, and in this case in a very unpleasant way. It is Society’s ultimate sanction.
Turning it into a circus cheapens the event and brings it down to the lowest common denominator. Might as well saw his head off on live TV: this would be a fair punishment, and probably entertaining for some. And it wouldn’t be without precedent. In the end, he would be every bit as much dead as if he were properly hanged, with the exception that if you saw his head off you will have a mess to clean up.
No doubt we could think of all kinds of creative ways of dispatching this turd, and I hope that it is all just Fantasy for some. I doubt most folk would be willing to actually — in real life — deliver on their Fantasy punishments. And if they were, that would be an excellent reason to lock them away as Sociopaths, and maybe send them for the high-jump, too.
I’d like to think that Western Civilization is capable of showing a better example to newly-freed nations like Iraq. A good, clean hanging is a perfectly fine remedy for Chemical Ali. It permanently eradicates him from ongoing existence, and there is sufficient shame and opprobrium to the dispatch method that nobody would want to follow in his footsteps.
This isn’t a Frat Party, folks. It’s a hanging. As pleased as we all are to see this mungrel hang, it would be real nice if the event could be marked with a degree of decorum and maturity.
You want everyone to pretend that they are not happy about this. That would be a lie....or disingenuous if you would like a more eloquent play on words. Besides, such anal retentive behavior is rather damaging in psychological terms and can lead to bottled emotional energy, low fertility and constipation. In other words, act like Europeans.

Lucky thing we don’t pay much attention to dead British monarchs, ay, to dispense modern Justice.
Even so, what you say is a broad brush in itself: Hanging, Drawing and Quartering for Treason was introduced as a sentence in Britain in 1241 (plenty of British monarchs before then) and abolished in law in 1870.
1820 was the last “hanging drawing and quartering” carried out in Britain, but even by then the latter two parts of the sentence were carried out after the crim had perished on the gallows. Victoria had a long reign, during which this sentence was certainly on the books until 1870 but not carried out.
Victoria reigned from 1819 to 1901.
Moreover, the conduct of the Death Penalty in Britain improved during Victoria’s reign and beyond well into the 20th Century, to the extent that Pierrepoint had perfected hanging to a very exact science: I believe 13 seconds was his all-up record, from the time he entered the condemned cell to the time the condemned was stone dead.
Contrast-and-compare with Lethal Injection, which takes the better part of an hour to complete. Speaking personally, I’d rather hang.
