KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) — A mother who tried to stop her son from carrying out a suicide bomb attack triggered an explosion in the family's home in southern Afghanistan that killed the would-be bomber, his mother and three siblings, police said Monday.
The would-be bomber had been studying at a madrassa, or religious school, in Pakistan, and when he returned to his home in Uruzgan province over the weekend announced that he planned to carry out a suicide attack, Interior Ministry spokesman Zemeri Bashary said.
Surviving family members told police that the suicide vest exploded during a struggle between the mother and her son, said Juma Gul Himat, Uruzgan's police chief. The man's brother and two sisters were also killed.
Family members said the would-be bomber gave his family $3,600 before telling them he intended to carry out the attack, Himat said.
Bashary said the explosion happened on Sunday, but Himat said it occurred on Monday morning. It was not clear why the two accounts differed.
In a second accidental explosion, another would-be bomber killed himself Friday in Paktika province when he tried to take off the bomb vest he was wearing and it exploded, Bashary said. The man told authorities he had been instructed by his handlers in Pakistan to launch a suicide attack, but changed his mind when he saw people praying in a mosque.

That's no surprise. Pakistan has over sixty five thousand madrassas! I saw that on a FOX News special over 3 years ago. God only knows how many they have by now.
Kids as young as 5 are started out being taught hate and are so brainwashed by the time they're teens that they are completely possessed by demons. The western world is in for a rough time ahead when, like this kid, they get old enough to carry out suicide attacks. Fortunately he killed 5 of them and not us. We won't always be that lucky though.
No, but HE is absolutely the ultimate Darwin Award winner, because he not only took his own genes out of circulation, but lots of very closely related genes. Hence we, the survivors, are FAR, FAR better off.
That said, and all black humor aside, it seems that at least the guy's mother was decent enough to try to stop him. To the extent that any member of his family was innocent in the matter, this is a true tragedy.

This one did not kill himself. This one was killed by his supervisor with a back-up detonator.
Some of these "suicides" are probably not suicides at all. If somebody points a gun at you and straps a bomb to your chest, which will explode if you try to remove it, it is hard to call the explosion a completely voluntary act.
It is so painfully obvious that "jihad" is not a spontaneous movement, but a program heavily funded by outsiders.

Agreed, esp. as: 1) His own family has to share at least some small portion of the blame (unless he had such genetic/chemical imbalances in his brain that no upbringing would have stopped this) and 2) It is likely that more people would have died and been injured had he gotten to his intended target.

I can’t entirely disagree - unless there was a real genetic/chemical imbalance problem that wouldn’t have prevented it no matter what his upbringing, then the family (esp. mamma) has some blame. Still, she tried to stop him. She at least partially redeemed herself by that act (assuming the testimony is true).
The homework load from the madrassa can be deadly.
Our deviate kids get a gun and go to their HS to freak out. Theirs, call it religious fervor and take out a bus load of other kids or the village market place.
So, anyway, what did they end up doing with the $3,600?
