The Coca-Cola Research Center for Chinese Medicine opened within the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences. The academy is the national center for research, health care and education in traditional Chinese medicine, the Atlanta soft-drink giant said.

What makes Coke think that we want to ingest something made in China? Until the Chinese get their act together on food safety and seem to care about whether or not their goods make us ill, then, no thanks.

Based on the current quality of Chinese products and additives, they could call the new product...CROKE.

This might actually be an opportunity. I’ve ingested a few of the herbal formulas from China. While there might be some ‘hocus-pocus’ from a Western perspective, there are certain herbal formulas that do provide benefits (for instance, try some puh-er tea for a scratchy throat sometime).

What makes Coke think that we want to ingest something made in China? Perhaps the Coca Cola company has a much larger market in mind.

"

Chinese ingredients? Its your funeral." You're right. Most of the herbs used by natural health practitioners come from India, and their quality is reliable because the upper caste of India uses them too.

I don't know about you guys, but I know a lot of people who would drink goat pee if they thought some old Chinese guy lived to be 120 on the stuff.
If you mix it up, and can convince folks it will slow the inevitable, they will drink it, eat it, or rub it on somewhere :)

This pict reminds me of a story I heard about in china. All over they have noodle stands on the streets in China. One of them seemed to have become hugely popular. In the past some noodle stands would add opium to their noodles to get people addicted. So the cops suspect the same thing and go and test the noodles for opium. The soup comes up drug free. The people still would line up for those particular noodles. Cops were stumped.... until they realized the owner of the noodle stand was wiping opium on the inside of the bowls, knowing the cops would check the soup but not the bowls.
Just thought it was an interesting story.
