At a time when party affiliation is fraying and a third of Americans consider themselves independent, to build a majority of 50% plus one requires persuasion. Independents will not accept all parts of either party's platform or approach but will choose a candidate for office based on which issues matter to them, and whether one or the other party connects with them on those issues. It is a skill to disagree at times without being disagreeable. Ronald Reagan had it, and it is one of the reasons he became so popular and patched together a large winning coalition . Coulter has clearly decided there is no economic advantage for her in this approach...

It appears that being rude and obnoxious to the point of insulting someone is considered ‘witnessing’.
As for her church, it’s common knowledge that she attends a Presbyterian Church in NYC very rarely, but that’s the only church her face has ever been seen in....however, it’s a church that is known for folks who want to be ‘seen’ to be seen.
There are no records of membership, offerings, donations or any type of church activity in any church in the NYC area. Supposedly her last membership was when she was still living at home.

She has hurt, not only the conservative movement, but has fed into the stereotype of conservatives, propagated by the Left.

I'm not indignant. I'm disgusted. I liked Ann and, I'm sorry to say, I bought 2 of her books. That will not happen again.
So, she's lost a fan. That is not at all the same thing as driving people from conservatism. I take it, if you bought a couple of her books and are on this forum that you have at least some conservative beliefs. Have any of them changed because of this event? Somehow, I doubt it.
And as an aside, I might mention, that ANYONE that tries to "perfect" me, is in for a very nasty surprise.

there was this preacher who had his congregation wrapped around his finger.
He was charismatic, charming, but it was clear he was also trying to see just how far he could lead his sheep astray.
Dang if they didn’t do everything he asked short of drinking almond scented Koolaid.
ANYHOW, one day, he announced that he’d had enough of being a preacher, and the yearnings he had for a different life couldn’t be denied.....so he and his male lover were now leaving town to pursue their happiness.
I always think of him on Ann C. threads. One day, Ann is going to announce that she’s been a liberal all along and was just seeing how much she could get away with as long as she called herself ‘conservative’.

I don't know where you get your numbers from but 80% isn't that great in what should be her home turf.
And again, many of those who give Ann a "favorable" rating, like me STILL think she resorts to unecessarily inflamatory rhetoric...and probably deliberately.
Like I said before, a lot us don't agree with everything she says but STILL like the way it drives liberals nuts.

Out of curiosity, can anyone verify that Ann is actually a Republican? I mean, personally? Because she really does act like someone who’s trying to discredit conservative ideals from the inside by taking the most outlandish positions... Watch an episode of the Colbert Report and you’ll see an example of the type of persona I’m talking about - one designed to bring ridicule to those who actually hold the mocked opinion.
Ann Coulter is not the republican party. She is not the conservative “party” spokesperson. We don’t pay her to speak to what our “party” believes.
She’s an entertaining bombastic speaker and writer. I refuse to attack her for being her, and I refuse to accept the premise that I have to apologize for what she says, explain what she says, or that republicans should be held responsible for what she says, or to be forced to condemn her for exercising her free speech rights.

The whole crux of the issue is whether Christianity is what it claims to be, not about how Ann worded it.
I think Ann’s comment using the word perfected is innacurate theologically, but not in error in what I believe is her possible context she meant.
To be a Christian means you are someone who has believed on and received by faith The Lord Jesus Christ and that your sins are forgiven through Him by faith.
Jesus fulfilled all the Jewish prophesies of the Messiah because He IS the Messiah. To believe in this fulfilled prophesy is to , sort of, not my word but hers, to reach perfection when it comes to what you are supposed to believe.
What she spoke of is the crux of the Christian Faith and it is not an intentional putdown or insult, it IS the Charistian Faith.
She did misspeak when saying that people can work they way through obedience to get to heaven when they die, like she said about Judaism, and she should have known that, because it is NOT Christian theology to believe that ANYONE gets to heaven through works or obedience, and that includes the entire world, not just Jews.
Her statement is NOT anti-Semitic.
Here's the problem...we have for years been incredulous that secular Jews vote Democrat. And then she gives them this weapon.
Of course, those same secular Jews have ignored the blatantly anti-Semitic comments and actions of the likes of Kookcinich, Jim Moran, Jim McDimwit, John Conyers, SanFran Nan's visit to Syria, Cynthia McKinney, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Malik Shabaaz, etc.
The point is that this doesn't help.
I know, I'm preaching to the converted.... (pardon the pun) ;-)
