Personally I hope that Univ. gets sued out of existence. It is an abomination.
I agree.

No. You are not correct. Duke University is a PRIVATE University, ergo, no state funds are paying for these settlements. Hopefully, no Alums are kickng their money into this Univesity either.

So a former state employee is files suit in a state court, against a state university, because another state employee ran is mouth, so he can get state bucks (compliments of taxpayers). Did I state that right?Clueless.

Duke University - a PRIVATE research university

Dukes leadership in this matter was/is a national disgrace. Actually, it's pretty revealing about the state of academia in this country in general and the Liberals who run it.....

Burness said the difference between Pressler and current lacrosse coach John Danowski was "night and day." Maybe the new coach has grounds for a suit? /s
All kidding aside, I would sue for 100 million, and accept nothing less than 50 million. Duke needs a kick in the nutz.

“The Duke Endowment is a private foundation established in 1924 by industrialist and philanthropist James B. Duke.
As of Dec. 31, 2004, the market value of the Endowment’s assets have grown to approximately $2.5 billion.”
So that is just barely enough to cover 25 100 million dollar lawsuits
To: MrEdd
I hope he gets enough to shut the University down.

He should win - one lawsuit that I support. Brodhead is costing Duke a lot and should have been fired. Heard just another Penn St. football player has been arrested for rape. Will the football season be canceled? Of course not.

Did I state that right? A more appropriate description would be a person is suing an organization because someone in whom the organization invested authority broke a legally binding agreement made by the organization
You're not suggesting that government institutions should be free to break contracts at will, are you?

I hope it cuts deep into the salaries of the Duke teachers and may new enrollment numbers plummet.

I’d imagine they have insurance, since this is a private school. Some Ins. Co. is scrambling a battalion of lawyers to settle right now.

Id imagine they have insurance, since this is a private school.I'd also imagine that the carrier could cancel, and Duke insurance would be unaffordable in the future, unless a whole lot of people are fired.

That’s right. If Vegas loses to a big winner, they don’t let him in for a year (if ever).

Duke is a private university, not a state school. The money will come from alumni and the ones I know are really angry. Not at the lawsuits themselves but at the behavior that led to them.

Oops I erased part of my comment. Alumni giving, endowments, and tuition will pay the bills.
I know a number of people who graduated there and they are really angry at this.
