SUMMERTON, S.C. (AP) — Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards says a tabloid story that he had an extramarital affair is untrue.
"The story is false. It's completely untrue, ridiculous," Edwards told reporters Thursday after he was asked about the National Enquirer report.
The supermarket newspaper reported that the former North Carolina senator had an affair with a woman who worked on his campaign. It did not identify the woman, nor did it name the source of the information for its report.
Edwards said the story was simply "made up" and that he loves his wife, Elizabeth, who is being treated for an incurable form of cancer.
"I've been in love with the same women for 30-plus years and as anybody who's been around us knows, she's an extraordinary human being, warm, loving, beautiful, sexy and as good a person as I have ever known," he said. "So the story's just false."

I had doubts about the Enquirer story yesterday, but Edwards actually DIGNIFYING it with a response makes me think there might be something to it.

Ha,ha,what a joke. John Edwards makes a Presidential run on his wife’s cancer and then gets caught bopping the campaign help. Is this guy pitiful or what ???
My gut feeling is that its not true. They really are a couple when you see them together.
I am going to be highly skeptical of any dirt that surfaces on anyone running against the Clintons.
What else was he supposed to say?
Craig also said he is innocent. Who can forget Bill’s “I did not have sex with that woman”? Bonds claims he is innocent. This does not mean Edwards is guilty. Who knows?
LOL! And I’m really laughing out loud, good one!
John Edwards might be a lot of things, but an adulterer?
I don’t think so. As misguided and plain wrong as he may be on most if not all the issues, I believe he loves his wife and if he says he is innocent and has not betrayed her trust, I believe him.

- “It’s only sex.”
- “I had an affair, but it’s a gay affair, so I should get stuff named after me...”
- “I had an affair after the feminists told me that sexual morals are a form of patriarchal repression and oppression.”
And finally...
- “I had an affair, but it’s okay... the woman got an abortion.”
Hillary planting some stories? Oh, she’s above all that, right?
