Madonna Constantine, the Columbia University professor who found a noose on her office door Tuesday morning, said she felt not only angry but embarrassed when she saw the noose.
"I know I don't really have a reason to be embarrassed about it because this was the work of someone who, you know, is not a secure person at some level, but it felt as though it was directed toward me," Constantine said in an exclusive interview today on "Good Morning America."
"It felt very personal and very degrading," she said.
New York police are treating the incident as a hate crime. They are also investigating whether the noose, first discovered by one of Constantine's colleagues, may have been placed by an angry student or another faculty member as part of an ongoing dispute with Constantine.

Maybe Imanutjob left it.
It’s as real as the black churches Clinton saw burned down.
Of course they are, was there any doubt?
” I’m thinking 3-1 in favor of hoax.”
6-1!!

Area lawyers orgasm over the possibilities...
I’m betting she put it there herself. Columbia refuses to release the security tape which could identify the party responsible.

50-50. Either way this is gonna turn into a media circus then the culprit will either be part of a hoax or some un attackable person. Like a gay-hispanic student. Then just blame white people and call it a day.
I think its a hoax but the damage is already done and if proven a hoax the story will be buried.
Multiculturalism is enough to drive any sane person out the window....the lady protests too much and.....anything can and does happen at Columbia.
Probably. But hopefully any ambitious prosecutors will have learned something from the Duke fiasco, and think twice before trying to make something of it.
Given the lack of integrity and professionalism of both Columbia and their faculty, I vote with fraud. Quite simply, I don’t believe any of it, period.
I hate to say this, but the very first thing that came to mind was that, yes, this is a hoax. I’ve seen too many of them in the 51 years I’ve been granted life. Maybe it isn’t. But it’s a little too convenient for a noose to show up on the door of this Columbia prof following the issues in Jena, La., and the visit from Ahmadinajad. (Serial killers are like this, too - they sometimes strike when public attention is called away by a serious news event, like when the Boston Strangler killed someone the same weekend as Kennedy’s assassination.)
I’m with you - I say odds are 3-1 in favor of hoax.

Ya think?
“Madonna Constantine”
Is that Italian?
Bookmarking this page for when the university concludes that she did it herself, they'll take no action against her, and someone will say the tired old line 'She was just trying to draw attention to the numerous hate crimes of a similar nature now spreading like an epidemic across the USA'.
NEW YORK (AP) - Columbia University has refused to turn over security videotape that could help identify who hung a noose on a black professor’s office door, police said Thursday.
Investigators began asking on Wednesday for tapes from cameras in the building, but have been rebuffed by administrators, said Paul Browne, the New York Police Department’s top spokesman.
The ABC story left out that Columbia has security camera videos that they are refusing to give to the police. I wonder what Columbia doesn’t want us to know?
I wouldn’t be surprised...
If a white professor, especially a male professor, found a noose at their door it wouldn’t be considered a hate crime.
Columbia is refusing to release the security camera tape to the police without a court order.
More phony hate?
They have security cameras, but they won’t give the videos to the police. How is there any security here? Are we sure this is an institution of higher education?
First you have to have a suspect. She didn’t say she saw anyone hanging the noose, she just saw it hanging there. And the university won’t hand over the security camera tapes.
Somebody better warn Madonna Constantine, Jesse (Catfish)Jackson, Al (always a lie) Sharpton, and all the other race baiters out there. I am currently working on a method of taking fingerprints from rope it is almost perfected and its a very simple process. Look out Madonna I will be rolling this process out to police nationwide in about a week. Now I will ax you just once Professor. Who put this rope on your door.
License for a mass mugging in the near future.
Al, Je$$ie, are y’all in town?
Very personal. So personal, I suspect it involved no one but her. That’s the usual pattern in these cases.
One comment from the Columbia student newspaper:
As critical thinkers, we should be suspicious of any man with white privilege and class prestige because they have the most to gain from white-supremacist capitalist patriarchy.

Does anybody perchance know the area of “study(ies)” this “professor” teaches? Just curious, but I am doubting chemistry or math.
Her statements sound very odd. First almost third person and then the felt and personal bit.. I say hoax.
vs.
Constantine is involved in a lawsuit with another professor at the college, according to court records.
Both are in the psychology dep’t.

Hoax. I would bet this is another attention getting hoax.
Hmmmm.... being a mean conservative attacking the victim, I have to say that that resume is pretty damning as far as suspecting a hoax. How many completely worthless academic papers did she publish? This is someone obviously waiting to be offended.
I totally agree.
I did make one mistake. The bio is that of Prof. Constantine, the one who found the noose. I forgot to put her name above it.
The other Prof named is the one in which is involved in the lawsuit with Constantine.
Don’t want anyone confused.

When I heard that the school was refusing to turn over the security tape for the police to view, my first thought was that it's either the professor herself or a black student. Why else would they deny the police the right to evidence that could solve the case? I guess the school had a change of heart on turning it over, but it still doesn't change my initial opinion of their trying to withhold evidence for some specific reason.
One word.. Tawana Brawley II
