WASHINGTON -- Former Tennessee Senator Fred Thompson set low expectations for his first debate as a candidate for the Republican presidential nomination. And, in the first minutes of today's Michigan debate, he failed to reach them.

Yet they’re the same f*ckwits who think Barack “10,000 people died in the Kansas Tornado” Hussein Obama is the Second Coming.

The Boston Globe always faces low expectations from me, and almost never fails to fall below them....

GMA on ABC this morning did a hit piece.

They actually dug up some audio tapes dating back to the Nixon debacle. Poor quality tapes at that.
GMA was trying to show that Thompson was in collusion to minimize the Nixon trickle down.

I almost choked.

I’ve never seen any hit piece on Robt. Byrd decked out in his KKK costume, or Madam Hillary saying, “I don’t rememder”, “I don’t recall”, etc. in front of a Congressional committee.
How many times was it? IIRC over 100 times.
The smartest woman in America with a memory like that?

Luckily, their influence is akin to any barber in Jerkwater U.S.A. The Globe, and their compatriots in the dinosaur media's days are over.

The number of Boston Globe journalists voting for Thompson I can count on one finger.

Thompson did better than I’d expected. But none of the GOP contenders are ready for Hillary. The scales are greatly weighted in her favor, and we’re going to have to improve our game if we want to beat her.

Fred's in the Race and He'll Beat Her Highness.

Must belittle him.

Her Highness Must Win.

We're afraid!!!

I don’t think that the left wing media is scared of any of these Republican candidates.

That’s been said by supporters of every one of the candidate that gets the typical MSM crap coverage.

Actually - having watched the debate I would say that this Boston Globe piece is not a hit piece but is accurate. Thompson did not do well at all at the start of the debate. By the end of the debate he made a small number of funny quips and had two or three good answers. All in all, he didn’t bomb but except for his most dedicate supporters no-one is going to be singing his praises over this debate either.

Maybe this is why they put the debate so early in the day — so the media would have first crack at shaping the opinions of those whose daily schedules prevented them from seeing it for themselves.

“Still waters run deep.” I know since I married one almost fifty years ago. It’s been an incredible journey.

What this country needs is not bread and circus candidates, but a steady hand. what the idiots in this country want is rock stars. The only advice I’d give Fred is to trot out his “trophy wife” in skimpy attire and stir up the degenrate in this country to vote for him. In Pol. Sci. 101 we first learned, it doesn’t matter how good, moral, or smart you are if you can’t get elected. You’ll be unable to accomplich anything for the most of us. Reality sucks!

The MSM’s campaigning for Hill and Bill reminds me of their “coverage” during the 90’s.

Remember?

It rained cute puppy-dogs everyday!

I watched the debate and agree completely. I like Fred and would love to support him, but I have seen him 4 times now and have been totally underwhelmed. Tonight he looked old, tired and just not quite there. I will give him the benefit of the doubt for now, but if he doesn’t improve I will have a hard time supporting him.

As for the rest. McCain was McCain which is to say your typical Washington insider with nothing new to add to the discussion. Huckeby has looked better, though I still like him generally. Tancredo, Brownback and Hunter are just filler as far as I am concerned. Duncan has some good things to say, but is at best cabinet level material. Paul is just Paul a little kooky, but entertaining, and probably running for the wrong party’s nomination. That leaves Rudy and Mitt. I like Mitt the best. He is articulate, bright, quick on his feet and looks presidential. Rudy has some good ideas, but comes across, as my wife says, a little professorial. I also am not sure how well the New York ambiance will play nationwide, and of course he has his social issues issues. I know there are many on here that hate Mitt for whatever reason, but if we want to win I think he is our best but going forward.

Why would republicans have a debate on the TV channel that no one watches?
