An odd video raises new questions about the USF students who caused a national security scare. Ahmed Mohamed and Yousef Megahed are already charged with driving explosives across state lines. Now prosecutors say Megahed's brother tried to send a sinister code through a jail-house camera.

I have no idea, but I thought others might. Keep in mind, that we are only viewing what the authorities are letting us view, which is not a bad thing if it is a message to terrorist.

Thanks for your comments on this thread. I believe it is being overlooked in the media, and I appreciate your help keeping this thread current. Unfortunately, I have to do some work and will be in and out for the next several hours. Maybe if it was about Paris Hilton, Britney Spears or O.J. it would get some attention, but it's just a couple of terrorist trying to kill Americans still trying to kill Americans from jail, so it will get buried soon.

I'll be in and out for the next couple hours.

I couldn’t see any of the video, but if it’s sign language, maybe some of wallcrawlr’s list can help.

Even so, it cound be just American letters for Arabic, or whatever Muslim country it is that is trying to destroy us.

Maybe some reference to verses from the Koran that are code for an attack?

It was. Prior to the break down they showed it appeared to be another 5 letters. Also it must be remembered that ASL is NOT the only sign language.

IIRC it is regional and even specific to groups. My question is why would mid eastern folks exclusively use ASL?

Oh, and don’t forget those who sign don’t usually do it letter by letter. They have phrases and short cuts for speed.

Maybe. I used the freeze but it’s still too fast. Assuming it’s standard American sign language it could be letters or numbers. If numbers there could be some 7s and 9s. Who knows. They say they have broken the code so I can assume we have the right people on this. This guy had to have known he would be taped though. He even brought attention to himself with all the exaggerated looking around. The question is why?

Yes but compare the hand movements before they broken out individual letters they showed. There seemed to be more than the 4 they showed slowed down.
