There are a few errors in this story I have been hearing aboutCOLONEL HLA WIN since Monday, he was not just a medium ranking officer, he was head of intelligence in the northern Rangoon area. I did hear unconfirmed reports that one brigade in Mandalay did step in to protect the civs, and their comander was arrested, and another Brigade commander also, I believe the 66th and 99th Light Infantry Brigades, respectively.

Good. That is just the kind of news the junta doesn't want to get out. There are fractures in the ranks. Undoubtedly there are many among the brigades who do follow orders that aren't happy about what they're doing.

These tyrannical regimes do their best to project unity and happiness to the world but there are always sub-surface fractures that they can't control and continue to grow. China is a perfect example of that. They put out the perception to the world that they are one big happy commune but the instability there is actually monumental.
