Looks like they copied a B-1B.
Nothing new about that.

No espionage there...

Actually, the Tu-160 is significantly bigger, faster, and longer-range than the B-1B. What surprises me is that Russia can afford to operate their existing fleet, let alone build new ones.

Pity the poor pilot who has to fly a plane that’s been sitting on the assembly line for a decade or so.

Russia aerospace technology has always been superb whether it they are copy-cated or not. The Chinese are keenly aware of this. Russian production of this sophisticated long-range intercontinental strategic bomber will be for profitable export to the Chinese. The political irony is these same platforms will be a long threat to Russian. The short-term power politc benefits are their only consideration.

The laughed at the supersonic B-58. But, this Tu-160, anachronistic or not, is a fine-looking aircraft.

G-d Bless the Russians.
They’ve given us (the USA) a gift more valuable than gold.
Reasons to keep our air fleet up to snuff and
not get complacent.
