Leaders of the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests (SNAP) say they plan to be out early Thursday in Clayton to greet former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani. According to a release, Several clergy sex abuse victims will hold protest signs and try hand out fliers to passers-by outside a coffee house and a hotel where (Republican) presidential hopeful Rudy Giuliani will make appearances
The leaflets beg voters to call Giulini to fire a suspended priest who is accused (in a grand jury report) of molesting three kids himself, covering up for other pedophile clergy and who allegedly advised other Catholic officials in 200 clergy child sex cases across the country. Giuliani already is facing some heat from Archbishop Raymond Burke, who told Post-Dispatch religion writer Tim Townsend in todays front-page story that Giuliani should be denied communion because of his stance on abortion. The New York City papers picked up the story later today.
