I have yet to hear what Fred Thompson has done that qualifies him for the presidency.

There are two obvious ways to respond to this, so I'll do both.

First, the only thing that qualifies anyone for the presidency (after they meet the constitutional requirements for holding the office) is winning a presidential election.

Second, what did Abe Lincoln ever do that qualified him for the presidency? Before being elected President, Abe Lincoln had been a one-term Congressman (eight years earlier), had never held any other significant office, and had simply worked as a small town lawyer.

Sometimes you just have to go with the best person available at the time.

Same as or more than anyone else, difference is Fred is electable, Hunter is not and you Hunter backers know it. Deny it if you will, image is everything in this day of mass media and the MSM will not give Hunter a chance and he has not showed the foresight to establish an internet campaign and other ways to circumvent the MSM. Fred is out there and has name and face recognition.

Hunter is my first choice and I send him money for now, but I am a realist as well and unless Hunter pulls a miracle I will vote Fred.

What executive experience did Abraham Lincoln have before being elected? We don’t need a manager, we need a leader, and that’s FRED THOMPSON!! Dictatorships, socialist & communist countries seek a central planner, we should seek a man that will do what is right, and think of first principles (the Founding Fathers & Federalism) when making a decision. That man is FRED THOMPSON!!

I was awarded top Veterans Employment Rep & Rising Star at the Workforce Center two times for my work with veterans, yet I don’t consider myself presidential material, so what’s your point? Maybe “president” Thompson will see the merits of Rep. Hunter and appoint him SecDef, Sec of Homeland Security or VA or FEMA director. I don’t know, but it doesn’t seem like Mr. Hunter is catching on with the potential voters, for whatever reason...

I’m responding to you calling him backbench. His position was not backbench.

That’s all talk, 2nd. I asked for what he has DONE, ACCOMPLISHED, to qualify him for the presidency.

He was instrumental in getting Roberts on to the SCOTUS. He knows what federalism is suppose to mean and is willing to stand up in front of people and lecture them on it. I was not sure about his leadership qualifications until I saw him here in Iowa last night.

>We don’t need a manager, we need a leader, and that’s FRED THOMPSON!!<

What has Fred Thompson ever led but a gifted life as an actor, a lobbyist and a so-so Senator? All attained by smoke, mirrors, red pick up trucks, and a mediocre imitation of a folksy ole boy.

We have been so blessed to have Duncan Hunter, a seasoned veteran of both the military and the Congress; a proven Conservative man of high principles, unequalled common sense, and a calm but determined demeanor running for the presidency!

Our enemies, both foreign and domestic, fear him, and that is good enough for me.

You don’t have to explain yourself to her.

Unless you are in the leadership, you are considered a back-bencher (see Ron Paul, Denis Kucinich, Barack Hussein Obama, etc..) It is not a slur, but a description of his rank & file status in the congress. Senator Fred Thompson was the Senate Governmental Affairs Committee Chairman, which has jurisdiction over Federal procurement policy.

All men of 6’5” are imposing by height, let alone practiced charm, to inspire leadership to men short either of inches, intellectual acumen, or of courage. And he is an actor, lest we forget, running for the most important role of a lifetime.

That he surrounds himself with Rockefeller Republicans like Howard Baker, and the same CFR members now populating the Bush Administration guarantees nothing else but more of the same - certainly NOT Conservatism.

Yep, he talks, but he hasn’t “done”.

The CEWI stands for combat electronic warfare and intelligence, if you were wondering. I was a “plank holder” (Navy term, actually) at both the 312th and 102d M.I. Battalions, since I was there at the conception of both.

Senator Howard Baker is his mentor, one of the few men brave enough to run as a republican in the nearly all democratic South of the 1960s and 70s. Would you turn on your mentor if you became more conservative than he? Fred wouldn’t. Let’s get this CFR nonsense out in the open, right now. Do you actually believe that there are secret organizations that are within the United States planning for it’s loss of sovereignty and a United Nations “takeover” of the entire world? Really? I know that foreign-born George Soros desires this, but he isn’t a CFR member, so far as I know. Quit getting your talking points from the Ron Paul/John Birch Society/Lew Rockwell loony far-right spectrum if you wish to be taken seriously.

Same old drivel you guys always dish out. The mindless lemmings will do what the media and the MSM tell them to do. Not a backbone among them!

Hunter is your first choice, BUT.... Hunter is my only choice, and I will vote for him in the primaries and pray that enough other Conservatives stick with him to put him over the top. The other leaders at least have accomplishments to fall back on. I will not vote for someone without them.

To your question - ABSOLUTELY. It would do you well to study what has been known to be going on for nearly two centuries. The reason we are in the mess we are in today is that too many people either don’t want to be bothered with the truth, or can’t handle it. Satan happily thrives because people don’t believe he exists.
