Work like heck to get a real conservative the Republican nomination but giving the RATs a continued majority in the Senate guarantees more of the same if not worse. Let's not lose perspective here.
meanwhile, excoriate the spineless Gregg.
By contrast, many of us who escaped the One Party State of Massachusetts to come here as though we were Soviet refuseniks are now witnessing the sorry emasculation of our own Republican Party officials. They are going along to get along. They value their cherished offices more than their principles. They abandon even the pretense of support for limited government, free enterprise, and a strong national defense at each moment they fear their political power is in jeopardy.
Well: Damn them all. I've had it. I am sick to death of voting for people who pretend to care for all I hold dear when their sole purpose is to maintain their cushy offices, their precious perquisites, and their proximity to power. Damn them.
Where are the leaders, the strong-willed and implacable, the guardians of liberty in this time of lengthening shadows and gathering storms?
Our enemies and their domestic facilitators are growing stronger by the hour. Our Congressmen are not. In an age when courage is required, we are given: at best, mealy-mouthed platitudes, and at worst, scandalous silence.
For major parties, we now have Tweedle-dumb and Tweedle-dumber, and the Libertarians, well, they've got the economic freedom thing down well enough, but they refuse to accept the reality of state-sponsored world terrorism because any effective opposition to it needs to be directed by (!!!) Government and you know how much they hate the thought of using government power for any purpose, even if it is for our survival.
We determine the make up of the Party, the plastic people who are party slaves, sucking around for advantage, never for the peoples advantage. Vote for Him, I got a Job, Vote for Him, I got a Job. The reality of it is he has a job, no heavy lifting, and I pay the freight.
And therein lies the problem. They play us for fools. They beg for our support and say all the right things, and then go off to the nice big office in Washingpork, D.C. and stick it right up our collective keisters.
Because now their re-election is no longer dependent on the poor working slobs (like us) who stuff the envelopes and make the phone calls and carry the signs - but on an army of slick K Street lobbyists in $2000 Armani suits who take them out to lunches in chic bistros and chat them up on the benefits of legislation favorable to them - and not so much to us.
And when the balance of power shifts (as it frequently will), the very same lobbyists set their sights on the other side of the aisle. And why not? They have the principles of sharks and the appetites of hogs and pretty soon, the Congressmen they buy and sell are indistinguishable from their own kind, and, in fact, many of the same lobbyists began their careers as (dah-dah-Dah!!!) Congressmen!
Yeah, I'm a little cynical tonight. It might be the whiskey and it might be the news. I'm just sick of being treated like a head of cattle in someone else's herd.
I do agree with you. We need to take our Party back. The question is, how?
He still is.
I’ve the initial response to my mail confirming his support, but I’ve trashed anything else from him.
I’ll either vote third party, or blank him.
Me, I wouldn’t spend a nickel because I will be dead before the Gottendamerung, but my lovely Katie, Grand Daughter, might be a victem, so bring them on.
